What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Finished the switch installation for the rear signal bar and the spot lights that will be installed at a later time.

Also installed a front facing camera. My head unit has two inputs, so I just need to power them and then I choose which one to display from the head unit screen.

 

Curious how those heated seat installation goes let me know did you get individual switches as well for the seats?

 

Any chance you can add some photos of that rear signal bar I have a rear chase bar but the switch is in the bed couldn't figure out where I wanted to install a switch at the time just did in the bed temporarily

 

What conversion kit are you installing? I've been interested in getting a set.

 

Changed lightbulbs, lost the spring in the headlight housing and lost the headlight boot.

upgraded reverse bulbs to 860 lumen 35w Osram gy6.35 HIR after reading @crashnburn80 upgrade. Can't believe the difference.

I have cam gears and spacer sitting at home. What significant differences did you feel on the truck? Did mpg get better?

 

Maybe if you install both of them at the same time it will be significant. But the benefits are modest, I noticed MAYBE 1-2 mpg better. It gets up and goes a little better too, torque curve moved down in the RPMS a bit, started spinning the tires in the wet in 3rd gear sometimes. 1st - 2nd forsure. I'm sure after lifting it, and putting bigger wheels and tires on it, it just drives the same as a stock truck

 

i need to figure out a way to add some chase lighting for my truck the canopy gets in the way and I also have no idea if the back of my roof rack would even be a good place to mount up anything with the topper.

 

I mounted mine on the backside of my prinsu rack mounted up perfectly with no issues I just need to figure out how to route wires and do a switch in the cab of the truck.

 

That's all really good things. I am lifted on 35s so having both of those done will give the truck a little bit of umf again. I'll be doing the tune as well. Eventually regear too.

Let me know how the tune goes. Not a lot of 2nd gen 6 speeds with the tune I want. It would be nice to see if its worth 500 bucks or not..... AKA more expensive than the cam gears and intake spacer combined..

 

Learned many years ago that when I trash or sell a 2nd gen stock headlight, or set, I kept the springs and boots (and tell the buyer to use their existing boots and springs). Peace of mind for future bulbs. This bulb lock is one of the worst I have ever seen (2nd only to my kids Lexus lock springs on factory HID's). People complain about the outboard screw when replacing the headlights. So much better than dropping the bumper cover and breaking loose the flares on a 3rd gen. This, axle wrap and no AT dipstick, are the only complaints I ever had with 2nd gens. When compared to my 3rd gen list of complaints these 3 complaints are nothing.

 

you should make a friend with someone who owns a 2010-15 Subaru Legacy or outback you have to remove the corner screw in the bumper pop that free, turn the wheel into the body for the side you want to do, then get your arm up in a tiny hole remove a really dumb cover with a twist lock. remove bulb with a similar wire set up. then put it all back all while aligning the bulb that retaining wire and then reinstalling that cover and cap, put all the bumper and fender liner back into place. it's a pain, and i hate doing it, my mom owns a legacy, I owned an Outback, and was a Subaru technician, I don't miss dumb things like that.
