Ground point location?

I cannot find IG. I have looked & looked. I can clearly see ID with its two brown wires. IG should be white & black. The diagram has it above ID & towards the front. Any clues, hints?

 

Maybe over the years it was moved. This happens quite often.

Pray tell just what circuit or Circuits is it for ?

I just looked my Truck is a year older it is on the doorpost under the plastic trim.

Thank you. I took one more look, & managed to find it.
For the EFI, IGN circuits. despite flailing around, I do believe I am I'm closing in. I was losing .82v at term 1 of the EFI. If I pull the IGN 7.5 fuse, this goes away. Also there is no voltage at the STA 7.5 fuse, key on. Not sure if it's supposed to be no voltage until started though.

 

You do know between meter error and line loss from the age of the wires Quite simple to lose that much voltage

When trouble shooting voltage you do have the battery charger keeping the battery charged??

You should have the 2001 EWD a digital copy I downloaded at the same time but lost my copy when the magic smoke escaped from the computer

That should show you all you need to trouble shoot your electrical problems . Sometimes a year difference can ruin a good day.

Is this still in reference to The resistance reading issue? I need to review that my old brain forgets just what the details are . It is so hard to figure things out not having the rest of the story in front of me.

This statement you make above without back ground is kinda of like giving driving directions with out a starting point or destination .

I have no idea are you still seeking the cause of your rough idle ?

Last I saw the MIL was not lighting when the ignition was turned to run prior to starting.

If I had something decent to drive I would make a road trip.

Yes. I am still troubleshooting that. I didn’t give any background because there is a 5 page thread on it already. The last post I did on it is still hanging & since I was driving myself nuts trying to find this ground point I figured I’d do a separate post, but not make it a repeat troubleshooter.

Can’t quite wrap my head around the age of the wires causing at least a .82votage drop since when I pull this one fuse, it normalizes. Unless it’s the wires to that fuse, however that voltage is reading fine.

Anyway, thank you. Whilst I can’t quite agree that the manual provides everything to troubleshoot, such as testing at relay boxes, whether 1&2 should have continuity, etc, it does help with open, short, etc.

So, if you are so inclined as to check out the last post I did on that thread, I guess I should be looking at an open circuit situation. I used the manual as a guide to determine this & had added the post to get verification.
& I suppose I should be looking at why there’s no voltage to this STA fuse.

oh, & yes, my battery is well charged.

So you have no voltage to STA fuse when cranking?
The STA fuse only has power when cranking.
If your truck starts, it has power getting to the STA fuse.

 

Kristi I am so sorry in my younger days I was told I was really dumb and slow .

I tend to think every one is always much more skilled at everything.

If I can understand how to read schematics it would be much easier for everyone else.

I forget at times this is not always true.

You seem to know quite a bit and offer good advice.
I’m no expert on wiring diagrams, but literally everything thing I know about them, I learned right here on TW.
Sure I did some off site research on my own, but it all started right here.

My point is, if I learn it. You absolutely can too.

 

It is only confusing in my head to myself .

When it is told over and over for like the first 18 years it sinks in. Think 18 years of boot camp the breaking down side.

I can do anything I set my mind to I have been a millwright and can do any job and led a crew for years.

My brain says if I have learned these skills Everyone else in theory should be much better then me.

Every class I ever took I did very well Mechanical Trades I can handle them all

 

Thanks. I never did any of this stuff until this idle thing started & working on it has been repeatedly interrupted.
Think I've got a couple of things to work with, so eventually I'll get back to it & figure it out.
