SO I learned... that the roadway lane markers go from dashes to a solid line.
That solid line indicates the expected distance the traffic will travel at the speed limit to "make the yellow light"
So if you are in the dashes you're speeding to make the light...

That may be where I got the ticket. I went hiking at Caratunk and then cut through the corner of RI to get to Attleboro. I was in RI for like 2000’ and got a ticket. o_O

I thought those were just within X ft of an intersection you aren't allowed to change lanes but interesting. I'll keep an eye out for that now and see.

Nope not that one. That was closer to the Pawtucket line. Pawtucket or Providence was the first to roll them out then east Providence went ballistic. We have I think 9 school zones and 14 red light cameras.

So far there isn't really any rust to speak of under this truck. Little bit on the hitch and some suspension components, but that's about it. I wasn't originally planning on keeping it long enough for it to matter, but I may begin to consider that.

I'm at 60,060 but with a 50 mile/day commute I put on over 1000 miles per month just for work.

Yup, I'm in a good position on this truck. When I look at replacing it with something else now, no matter what way I slice it I end up coming out of it with a worse deal. The remainder that I owe is at 0%, I'm well ahead of the trade value, and it's well-optioned enough where it doesn't leave me longing for something nicer.

If I replace it, rates are awful and I'd be settling for a lesser vehicle if I want to keep the cost at all close to what this one was. I just need to keep the miles off of it.

Luckily, used XC60s have come down in price. If I wait until summer, they may even be a little lower. I think that may be my best bet. If I get something that I actually want I'll be likely to actually drive it and keep miles off the truck. If I got something cheaper like a used Civic as a beater, I'd probably hate it and it wouldn't do anything to prolong the life of the truck.

So yes, they were always to tell you not to change lanes...but recently updated/paved intersections will also time out perfectly...

Any of you guys do any undercoating to combat salt/rust? If so, what’re your recommendations for brands and technique?

I don’t have much rust except for the areas near suspension starting to look a little attacked, but want to try and get ahead rather than deal with it once it’s too late.

@jpereira2 and @tacobell007 do undercoating with woolwax in the fall, you can't go wrong with that or fluid film. What year is your truck and have you done anything yet?

2020, I haven’t don’t anything yet. Previous owner kept it in great shape and there’s not really any rust... yet.

My buddy also recommended fluid film. I guess I can wait until fall and then dump some in a spray can?

I'd get a couple rattle cans and hit main spots underneath since there's still very much salt on the roads, but thankfully the seasons almost over so once we're in the clear you're good til fall if you don't go wheeling or anything

Same here, every once in a while I’ll roll around on the creeper and hit a lot but for the most part, take a peak underneath when you’re bored and cover a few areas, little here and there

Ugh. Dead battery on the truck tonight, jumped right up..only 4 years old. After about 10 minutes of driving the alternator voltage went to about 12.9-13.0..hit 12.5 while idling and playing the stereo.

Didn't have time to fiddle with it tonight but I found some corrosion on the terminals, hopefully cleaning those up will fix it

That's what I thought. We're down that way quite a bit - most of the girlfriend's family is in Westfield and Agawam.

He's one of the clowns that drives a Ford.

oof. what battery? 4 years in the northeast isn't unheard of. vatozo'reiley's has those battery testers that can test them, I had mine done when I was having issues, they said it still had about 50% of its life left. I disconnected the dash cam from always-on fuse and have a solar panel, not sure which helped but I haven't had issues since - and the panel was on for a week I was away and it was deaaaaad. So, mighta been the dash cam. :notsure:

Mine's OEM so assuming it was built mid-late 2019, it is about 3ish to 4 years old

Sounds like the alternator is giving up the ghost...

At least it is relatively easy to change on our 2TR's.
