Sometimes the weirdest things are made because that's what's there!

Last night - seasoned fries, kielbasa in berbere seasoning (solid 4/10, wouldn't do it again, but I had it so I tried it ), broccoli soup. No cohesive thought went into that.

My Grandmother would always say that “Necessity is the mother of invention” but have learned that it’s all about the pairing of texture and flavors. Then I judge the success of a creation by the reaction of my wife. If she finishes dinner and offers to clean up the kitchen so she can divide the leftovers into lunch size portions…I know it was a hit and I’m probably making it again.

old school pyrex measuring cups are difficult to find now.

i dont think most measuring quantities are an exact thing anyways. most things i barely measure, if it isnt baking.

 

The tupperware measuring cups are hard to find also

I don't measure most things. I have a "feel" for how much a tablespoon of soy sauce is, etc for a marinade, rub, whatever.

I weigh out flour down to the gram for bread (and water, salt, etc)

 

Pretty much this.

Baking by weight with a decent scale.

Measuring liquid if necessary we have the pint glass shape cup/glass. Just buy a couple/four at a shot keep two in use and two in storage, use for beer with the marking eventually is gone - although I must say - this last set the marking looks as good as new. The cool thing is, we have have a size range now all the way down to a shot glass. Some are marked in all know units of liquid measure. Kinda funny/cool.

Been looking at less cheese. Cheese is great, and in some places, yeah go for it. But the amount of "I need to put cheese on something STAT!" has gone way down. Nice, heavy sauce - hey, let's see if it can be non-dairy. Not a requirement, but I feel better about it.

Spinach Artichoke dip - I have a vegan recipe that's really good, you can eat a whole bowl of it and not feel like time is going slower.

Granted, I'm dumping it onto a pile of carbs I'm about to make, but, hey, whatever.

Dennis, I'm not going to lie. I googled "Large wine glass" and there was only pictures of 30 year old Live Love Laugh women with straw hats and red wine. They didn't have a 62 year old retired white dude category, so I picked one at random.

@CTSpruceMica that cauliflower Alfredo was a solid 6/10. I dunno if it was the oat milk (vegan wife) or the nutritional yeast but something was just kinda "off" for me. She enjoyed it. So, win some lose some. I'd give it a go, mighta just been my tastes.
