I'd recommend replacing that tourniquet pictured with a real CAT tq or a SOF-T. That one looks to be a pretty bad counterfeit.

Looks like it’s a recon medical whateverthefuck. I have a legit one in my truck, I’ll swap them around.

 

I put on a much needed (IMO) graphics kit. Some people prefer an oem look but I’m a sucker for some graphics. A little before and after.

 

Good call. Recon basically knocked off the CAT and got peepee slapped in court over it.

UPDATE: In December 2021 a jury found in favor of Composite Resources in a lawsuit alleging Recon Medical had infringed it’s patents in a number of different manners. Composite Resources, the maker of the CAT tourniquet has moved for a permanent injunction against Recon Medical. In response, it appears Recon Medical has slashed prices on their tourniquets and is flooding the market through both their own website and Amazon. Recon Medical has simultaneously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Nevada. During the course of the lawsuit, the Federal Judge found that Recon intentionally encouraged customer confusion between the two products, and commented there was evidence weighing in favor of a finding that Recon intended to “trick consumers into believing Recon’s products are CRI’s.” See, Composite Resources v. Recon Medical, US Federal District for the District of Nevada, 2:17 CV 01755 MMD-VCF.

For those not convinced the science makes a difference, during the lawsuit, the CEO of Recon Medical admitted Recon had no quality control over the Chinese Manufacturer who made the knockoff tourniquets and they suffered from delamination issues with the devices.

 

You'd be astounded how prevalent fake tourniquets specifically are. Pro-tip: never buy a TQ on Amazon.

 

I think the bigger thing I know for myself at least is don't use one unless you are trained to know when you need one and how to properly use one. I really have been wanting to do an REI medical safety class for this reason because I don't know shit about shit.

 

The good news around tourniquet use is 20 years of GWOT combat medicine has improved the understanding of their usage and after effects manyfold and its starting to flow into the dirt medicine curriculum more and more. IDK if REI covers TQ usage in their courses, but free resources like "Stop the Bleed" are a great way to know enough to make a difference. Nope, just an old Honda that my dad and grandfather hard tailed and added the sportster tank back in the mid 80s, it originally had long forks up front but I swapped the whole front end from a cb450f to have disc brakes and shorter forks and I liked the wider tree personally.

 

That will be such a sweet little bar hopper

 

Wish it was rideable now, would be a great commuter for me with these gas prices lmao
