This 100 series that sold for $65,000 sent prices into the stratosphere for a while afterwards. Nice build with the RTT and accessories. Though I'm happy with mine due to the suspension and drivetrain build.

model at work just came in all flustered about a repair quote on her Land Rover, showed it to me and they want over $4k to replace 2 tires, do an alignment and replace the front bushings in the shocks.

I was just like, yeah that tracks with what I hear about maintaining Land Rovers...you know there are cheaper to own vehicles out there right lol. Gotta keep up with the joneses I guess

They really shouldn't anymore, they're just cars with big interiors nothing rugged in the slightest about them. Basically a highlander with a V8 and some suspension modes.

Or, you could suggest that they take the car to get a secondary quote somewhere else... That almost sounds like someone's putting a price in front of someone that doesn't understand what the repair is and that they are gouging them. $4k is the ball park for the timing chain guide jobs on a Land Rover, which is a lot of labor. I would be curious what the part cost and labor breakdown is for that repair.

I think they are those fancy low profile run flats like what BMWs come with, $$$$

 

Run flats are awful too, Bridgestone has been giving BMW free handjobs to put them on cars for decades now and everyone whos had them can tell you how loud they make the interior and how rough they ride, you make the car nearly like new just putting regular tires on.

 

I was just thinking too that I hope the guy I bought mine from doesn't see that, don't want him having a sudden case of FOMO. Then again he was pretty chill, Toyota enthusiast too and was just happy to sell it to someone nice and easy without any hassle.

 

And you got it for less than his asking

 

It's always a tug of war isn't it. Buyer wants to pay lees while the seller is usually the opposite. I'm pretty sure my PO was very reluctant at first on the offer I made.
