    2010 Toyota Tacoma access cab 4x4 TRD OR
    Billies all around with 2.5" in front, TSB with Toytec 1.5" AAL, 265/75/16 Yokohama Geolander AT-S Redline Elite struts, Ultragauge, Yaseu FT-7900 radio, Leer XL topper, Westin nerf bars.
    Installed my 1.5" AAL for TSB last weekend and my steering wheel is not straight now. Any guesses why??????


    FYI the week before this I had 5100s installed, front set to 2.5" the same time as the TSB and had the front end aligned by the dealer. Did not notice steering wheel being off. Then I had new 265/75/16 yokahama geolander at-s installed, but did not get new alignment, because they told me I wouldn't need it if I had it aligned just a week earlier, even though it was with the old tires. I drove it with the new tires and did not notice anything wrong with the steering wheel. Now I just installed my AAL last weekend and my steering wheel is not straight. Makes no sense to me. Ideas????

    X2. Raising the rear end will result in different suspension deformation at speed.

    ANY change to the suspension = alignment needed.

    Did this yesterday; definitely a few PITAs along the way. The OME shocks were tough to get in place, as the rubber bushing is definitely larger than the stock one. And one thing that can't be overstated is the need to get your jack stands high enough, or you will not be able to gain enough clearance between the stock leaves and the axle. I had to go get a set of taller stands after dropping everything. Glad it's done, now off for the alignment... :D

    Thanks Chris for the great write up. I just installed my Toytec AAL tonight. After the install I noticed one blurb in the installation that I overlooked, that the leafs are not symmetrical, that the longer side should point to the rear. Well, I just checked my truck hoping I got lucky and did it right. Nope, they are both long end forward. My question is do I have to redo the install? What could possibly happen if I leave it as is? It seems to ride alright.

    I havent noteiced any issues with the longer side forward. If the shorter end is forward, it controls axel wrap better, but it seems to ride a little softer, or more compliant with the longer ends forward.

    Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it seems to ride just as smooth as before. Is axle wrap something I should feel when accelerating? I feel nothing unusual from the rear when accelerating hard. I'll just ride it as is for awhile as I'm running out of flesh on my knuckles :eek:

    You feel it when comming to a stop. Its a "Thump" when you let off the brakes. If its not bad, its nothing to worry about.

    I have on 06 Tacoma 4WD and I havn't upgraded my original springs, and in searching the site I have read about the TSB concerning the springs for my truck. I would like to lift my truck 2 inches, more for additional load than off roading. I am wondering if I should upgrade the springs then add the AAL? My truck has 115,000 miles and I plan on giving it the works in the suspension department. I live and work out of it so although money is a concern so is comfort and reliability. Any input would be appreciated.

    I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma

    With the age and miles on your truck it would not be under warranty. The TSB's (technical service bulletin) are for trucks still under the factory warranty. You can still purchase the springs that Toyota provides but they are expensive. Your best bet is to look aftermarket. Sounds to me like the best for your application may be the Dakar's by Old Man Emu. You can check out Toytec or Wheelers Offroad (both vendors here). Good Luck.

    I ordered the AAL from toyteclifts.com Now i see this says to use new U bolts and i also see them on the site. Are the stock Ubolts to short? Im planning on doing the install tomorrow.

    U bolts are generally not to be re used, 'cause they stretch.
