I've had my locks freeze once, PITA. Started using Blaster Lock Dry Lube/De-Icer and zero issues. Spray some in the lock barrels every 2-4 weeks and they are buttery smooth. So far extended time in freezing temps they have worked, but I bring that can of LDL with me just in case..

However, looking forward to no longer dealing with that - as well as latches I can open from the inside of the cap.

Any idea when the long boys will get some love? Is there a timeline?

Has anyone added load bars to their SmartCap? I have the EVO adventure and want to add load bars for normal truck stuff, but also for the eventual roof top tent. I see the RSI load bars are not yet available for the 3rd gen Tacoma. The second option I was looking at were Front Runner's but in the Q&A on this page, it says the max load capacity is only 220lbs. That's what I weigh! So, don't think it would be a good idea to secure a RTT to these. Any thoughts?

On heavy tents we use Three.

I have the Adventure as well using a 165 lbs. tent and use 2 of the Front Runner load bars. No issues while driving and while camping was rock solid. I think that depends on the footprint of your tent though. Ours is pretty compact and uses a side ladder to support an additional fold out section near for our feet. I would expect a long wedge style tent to prefer 3 bars.

Hey, I have a short bed Evo-Sport on order through you guys. Any updates or ETA's from RSI?

I'm not in any hurry for it, but just curious on the scuttlebutt around RSI production.

I'm looking into the platform rack for my topper, as well as getting a roof rack for my truck. Does anyone have knowlege as to which roof rack for the truck matches up with the smartcap platform rack vertically? i would like it to be one large flat platform essentially.

Caps are produced and waiting for paint. They should start shipping to distribution soon. Its been a real nightmare and a big thank you for everyone's patience, it will be worth it.

I researched this for days and finally found the front runner setup.

I switch from Prinsu once I got the RSI because they would not sit remotely close to even with each other. I originally had the load bars but I wasn’t happy with the weight capacity or look so I went with a full platform to make full use of the weight capacity of the RSI. 39B3CA6F-2BD7-4C5E-9DA3-C340F76DA591.jpg4B6AB3B0-086D-46B8-AC44-D85109F82365.jpg

    Hey folks.
I'm about to pull the trigger on an Evo A for my 2nd gen short bed. From looking at the few pictures I can find online of this cap on a 2nd gen, it appears that the top of the cap is close to flush with the roof of my cab.
Pictures of the sport on the 3rd gen it definitely doesn't look flush and I've seen comments about it being about an inch taller.
Is there anyone here who has experience with an Evo A on a 2nd gen Tacoma that can say for sure if it is or is not close to flush?
    Thanks

Doesn't appear to extend as high, but a bit more than flush...

Probably pre-production marketing photo, versus what was actually produced.
