Cast Aluminum Running Boards

Hey guys if you have these maybe you could give me your opinion as I'm thinking about buying these........
1. Would they support my weight of 250 lbs standing on them to reach the roof like when you want to wash/wax the truck?
2. Do they make it easier or harder to enter/exit the truck?
3. Are they of good quality?
4. Where to purchase? $750 list yikes.

I put 2nd generation Toyota OEM ones on mine, I think that they look cleaner and are considerably cheaper than what you’re considering. Search here and you’ll see lots of pics of 3rd gens running 2nd gen boards. They work ok as steps but they do sit a little high. I love how they hide the pinch welds. They’re basically a metal core with a plastic wrapped outer covering.
I weigh 220 and they don’t show any signs of straining when I stand on them whatsoever.

 

I have the cast aluminum. Well worth the money spent. Love them.

 

I had these they looked nice and sleek on the truck but ended up putting back the factory tube steps that came with my truck since I have a long bed and these stopped at the end of the cab and didn’t extend to the front of the bed like the tube steps. Also to note these were like 3-4 times heavier then the tubes I don’t think these are entirely made of aluminum. These also sit higher then tube steps.

 

They support my 250lb self on them and are rock solid.
I really like them. They also help keep so much stuff getting thrown up on the sides and windows of the truck from the road

I have them as well but don't like them (stored for now). They are solid but IMO too high to help shorter people get in and too wide to easily step over getting out. They do cut down on the crap thrown up the side of the the truck.

these. Much closer to my expectations. Kept them on. Also have flaps to curtail the road grime.

 

Have these on both our trucks, rock solid, high quality, textured for non slip, good step for getting in & out and they look great!
No sign of wear on the 5 year old set on my daughter's 16.
Well worth the $$. Highly recommend!!

 

Looking around I see them much cheaper but shipping is high. You might try getting a local dealer to price match Conicelli Toyota or Bam Wholesale, they're both around $580. Good luck

Apologies for waking up an old thread! I just picked up a 2023 SR5 Access Cab. Any idea if these 2nd Gen running boards will fit a 3rd Gen access cab? I do think they look nicer than the 3rd Gen version and quite a bit more reasonable comapared to $750-$900!

 

If the 3rd gen version fit both AC & DCSB then the 2nd gen version will fit both also.

 

That's a good question...I figured there were different part numbers due to the cab length being slightly different. Will have to do a bit of research.

 

Mine came with "shark" boards when I purchased it. Similar style.

Do they support a lotta weight? Yes.

Do they make it easier or harder? For my long legs, harder. I have to step over them without getting mud on my pants cuff. For my fiancee, no difference, maybe easier. She actually uses the boards because she can't step over them.

Good quality? Brand specific, can't answer. Mine have been decent for 5 years.

Where to purchase? There are many "blade" style boards out there. Some as low as $150. Good ones tend to run around $350-400.

PS. 5 year old truck, no door dings. Lots of dings elsewhere else, but no door dings. First truck I've owned that I can say that.

 

Mine came w the truck, love it! They also guard against runaway shopping carts. I can walk on it from front to rear and access the entire roof rack! I weight 210 but have had two peeps on it simultaneously…Love the fact that they’re high and don’t hang low.

 

I’ve got the exact same ones and they easily held me and a friend so about 400lbs standing on them putting together my roof rack. Haven’t had a trail dent or rip them off yet either!

Yes, the gen 2 running boards fit gen 3 Tacomas, even though Toyota might tell you differently.
I have the gen 2 boards on my gen 3. Bolted right up. No drilling. Perfect fit.
