Well we get about 2-3 inches of pollen daily... It's reeking havoc on my eyes and sinuses and my need to hose down my truck and driveway..

Unfortunately nothing cool like that. It's all fishing. We had a guy try to bring an older racing boat on once, he claimed it was an old armorall race boat. 454 Chevrolet in it. But the shop manager refused it.. shame too. I'd have liked to work on something like that

And the woman who is handling my claim who says my rate won't increase isn't the one who determines my rate....

    Thanks @cromag27 :hattip:

    Morning all,

Did our taxes the other night, shew getting quite a bit back. Momma is going back to work, baby is going to daycare where she works.

I'm turning 35 in a few weeks. This is the year we knock out our last few debts, keep driving paid off vehicles and start funneling money into paying off the house. I want to make that 30 year mortgage effectively a 15.

    Early Happy Birthday!

I’m a huge proponent of being debt free but these are uncertain times…

If you’re locked into a low, fixed rate mortgage, you might make out putting some of that extra paydown into something interest bearing/investment.

A low rate fixed mortgage is an asset when rates go up like they’ve been.

Congrats on getting to this point

Very true, thanks and I'm glad I went through the hassle of re-fi'ing in 2021 to go from 4.25% to 2.99, which I going in I really thought I could do better, I missed the absolute bottom of rates and jumped when I saw it going back up.

Sounds like your in decent shape financially, good deal.
I think we have 3 years maybe 4 to pay off our home mortgage. It's crazy but cool to look at the $$ amount saved 30 yr vs 15 yr.
Excellent benefit to have daycare at the work. I just figured let my wife stay home when the kids were pre schooling days. Work $12 -$15 hr paying job then hand 90% of it to daycare. Nah
I about had to get cattle prod out to get her back to work mode though.

This is what we've been wrestling with since my little girl was born a year and a half ago. Does my wife go back to work part time and pay most of what she'd make to daycare... or she just took a job as a school nurse at a local christian school, school is 10k/year, daycare is 800/month per kid and all that is free if she works there. Summers off, spring/fall break and daily hours matching our kid's hours. And more importantly than anything, as a school admin she has her eyes on what is being taught.
And toe I hear ya on needing a cattle prod. Even after seeing these long term pro's, we(she) still had a hard time with the decision...

Maybe it's the wife; work is the one safe place he has...

I'm definitely in the camp of paying off the house ASAP, but you should also squirrel away vehicle money. So you can pay cash for the next vehicle when your current vehicle has worn out. I would put 15% toward your retirement funds, and I'd put at least 50% of whatever your current car payments are in a money market account until you have enough to pay for new vehicles. Then I'd put everything else I got toward paying the house down. Also, if you get a big return every year, you should adjust your deduction by one or two more. So you'll see more money in your paycheck throughout the year and not be loaning Uncle Sam interest-free money all year. Your tax return should not be looked at like a savings account because it's not! If you just had a baby, they are great tax breaks, but they are also incredibly expensive so the extra money in your pocket now could be handy.

If there's an opening for a school nurse when she's ready, that'd be a pretty good deal!

Yeh what I was trying to say was that she's taken the job but it took a little prodding to get her to say yes. Should be lower stress, better hours, but it is a full time gig. My wife wasnt ready to give up being home full time with our little girl yet. But imo its too good to pass up.

Walk a mile in my shoes....

One never knows what another person is really going through. The job could be his "children" because he could never have any and he is putting all that energy and frustration into something that makes him feel good about himself and his legacy. Or maybe the home life is not so great so work is an escape? Or it could be that he is just driven and nuts. Ask him, maybe he will tell an interesting tale? Or maybe he will tell you to pound shit and leave him the hell alone!
