I quit looking at LBJ threads.

One group is constantly repeating themselves, I was in that group.

Another group consists of the "oh no, I knew I had over 180k miles but didn't bother replace them, tehehehe"

And finally, "how do I know I should change them...." or "what kind should I get?"

And part numbers? They're repeated a million times plus even in the same thread which reminds me, I'm going to delete them from my signature.

We're fighting our own battle with that. I don't really like working in an open office call center. Half my team is in NY, there's someone in CA, and someone in TX so I have to call into every meeting anyways. Even had a meeting with my manager that they don't care that I get less done as long as I'm in the office :bananadead: what really happens is I don't get much done in the office and have to bust ass when I'm at home to make up for it. Bleh.

Is it enough to make you look for something new?

My situation is similar. We actually just moved to a new office (building acquired pre-COVID, renovated during COVID, and we moved in a few months ago) and the call center vibes are strong. My team is almost entirely local, except for our project manager. I like him and like working with him and it's a bummer that he's not here--work life would be much different if he was.

I like the job and the company. Good coworkers, good perks, good work/life balance. I occasionally wonder what's out there, but on the scale of "pain of staying vs pain of leaving", staying is still winning.

Have we hit 555 lbj threads yet? Maybe that’s the threshold.

I’m just done with the subject like @Kwikvette I guess.

I’ve even had arguments IRL with my friend (who’s an aerospace engineering USAFA grad) over the LBJs on his 3rd gen T4R. Dude can explain jet engine and aircraft design to an idiot like me but wanted to ignore his 200K ball joints.

I'm glad to hear that it's still a pretty good gig :D

Having the majority of the team together definitely makes a difference. When I started here the entire team was based out of this office kind of like your setup and going in was a totally different experience

Thanks. I worked hard in software startups in my early 20s and while the money was nice, I've since decided that I'm happier in a more chill environment, supporting a product I care about. I'll put up with some office shenanigans for that.

I do think that an in-person team is best, but a full-remote team can be a close second. It's mixed teams that are most problematic because they create an imbalance in how people interact with one another. Mixed teams should make a point of having the office-dwellers work remote regularly so they stay attuned to what it's like to do everything through a keyboard, camera, and headset.

Yes I need diagnostics tools but it's also an early 99 with the smaller turbo, up pipes, intake plenums and spider... so idk of it being really slow is just a feature

    I bought an 02 f550... compared to the early 99 f450

well it makes the early 99 f450 feel like a piece of agricultural equipment

Hot vs cold takes the same time to start perhaps less when hot

    Stuff. Also things.
Nope. Just my old CJ5 that I’ve had for 25+ years. It’s super hard to even think about letting it go because there are a ton of good memories with that thing.

The funny part is that there are a ton of not so good memories too, like running out of gas in the busiest intersection in town and then having my clutch cable break in exactly the same left turn lane in exactly the same intersection a few weeks later

Oof, sounds like you're hanging onto a lot of trauma.

I'll happily take that Jeep off your hands; you owe it to yourself to live a happy and fruitful life :luvya:

I love it. Old school graphics, cab fairing, side skirts, red interior, etc. If it was a crew cab it would be perfectly ugly.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
The one that got away. I had one of these 442s sedans when I was a junior in HS. I worked after school for a dealer and could pick some oddball cars cheap. I knew this one was different but didn't understand the how rare it really was. So I drove it for a year and traded it off. That was my first experience with a rear locker.
