My tundra had slotted, and drilled rotors with over 250k miles on them before I sold the truck. Last I knew they were still ok. Unless your truck lives in mud 24/7 there's nothing wrong with those rotors.

Update. So went to another dealer and explained my brake issues. So I told them other dealer turned my front rotors. They put my truck on the rack and pulled both front rotors. The Toyota Tech showed me he was the first to remove the rotors, no marks on the caliper bolts. So both rotors were warped, other dealer claimed they fixed them, but clearly they did not. I watched the tech put them on the machine and heard as they went around, they were never turned before. Also the rear drums were warped, those were turned as well. Think this is bullshit for only 8300 miles. Was told brakes are only warranted for 12k after that I am on my own. Truck stops smoothly now but how long is it going to last?

Lot depends how you use those brakes. Do you haul a lot of heavier stuff, or are you one of these drivers with one foot on the go pedal, and the other riding on the brake pedal? Another thing, you should check if those rear drums are adjusted properly when you rotate your tires. If their not it'll cause your front pads, and rotors to work harder.

This is simply not an accurate statement. Warped rotors can easily be turned back within factory specs and provide reliable use in the future if they are cast iron, as these are stock. Unless of course turning them would result in a rotor thinner than factory min specs.

YOu need to figure out why they are getting warped. The posts make it sound like they were fixed and the problem came back. So something is wrong, either in the truck or how you are using it.

No they were not fixed, dealer just said they did. I drive normal. I pull a utility trailer occasionally. Just bought a travel trailer 2900 dry, have not weighed it loaded yet. My brakes are good for now. I figure it's just junk rotors and drums, the truck only has 8400 miles. I contacted Toyota so they can document the incident. It's definitely not anything I do it's the truck. I had an F350 before and I never had any brake issues with that truck or any other one I have owned.

Turning rotors is 1970. Screw that. A new set is cheaper than the labor to turn them. Once they've been ground down, they're far more likely to warp again, since they're thinner (physics....) And If you use the old pads on freshly turned rotors, they're just going to warp again anyway.

Thinner metal heats up faster. Thinner metal warps easier. Regardless of whether They're "in spec"......

Yeah just waiting for them to warp again. Will see what Toyota says. If not will get new aftermarket all the way around. It's a shame it has to be like that. When they warp again will decide what to then.

Vast majority of "warped" rotors are not actually warped. Usually the issue is uneven pad material distribution, which can happen in a number of ways I won't get into here. When you get new brakes, follow a procedure to "bed in" the brakes.
Cutting rotors will fix the issue, but is kind of ridiculous when rotors are so cheap these days.

I’m not saying they are low quality, but I assume most of the aftermarket options are made in China. Any options from the free world?

Not really in direct replacement styles, except maybe OEM. DBA is made in Australia I believe.

Local machine shop charges $25 per rotor. You’re not gonna find good coated OEM style rotors for that.

I had the the stock rotors turned, and they warped again slightly afterwards. Tried a new set of solid factory rotors...they warped again within 20k miles. There were fix's from Toyota that involve using the Land Cruiser calipers, and rotors, but only at no cost in warranty. It was over $2k if out of pocket. Mine was out. The 2nd recommended fix that worked fairly well were the EBC slotted/drilled rotors which I did. That solved the issue of warping rotors for good.

Well back at the dealership for brake issues again. Called Toyota Corporate they said they are going to review and escalate my case. Why can't they just replace the rotors and drums instead of reviewing possible issues. F•••••• ridiculous. 10650 miles on my vehicle.

Are your wheels properly torqued. In my experience at a tech nowadays it's not really the brake component quality but the wheels being over torqued causing the rotors/drums to warp.

I'm going through the same thing. I had 45 mph vibrations start around 12k and the dealer turned the rotors at 14k under warranty. Braking improved by now as I'm approaching 23k the same vibrations are occurring. I could feel them coming back weeks ago so I had the dealer check them again at an earlier service appointment and was told nothing was wrong. Hopefully the next time I go in the problem is more obvious and things get fixed. My truck also vibrates at the same 45 mph speed when I gently accelerate to or maintain that speed. Could the two be related? Maybe the brakes are grabbing the same lumps on the rotors
