So I'll start off by saying, I was not a proponent of the "buy once, cry once" ideology. I have a 2018 Off-Road, and went with a BDS 4" lift kit and 33x11.50 tires.

the BDS suspension has differential relocation brackets, sway bar relocation and new crossmembers.

but I have come to the conclusion that a spacer lift and 4" just isn't the best way to go. And I am strongly considering possibly swapping this out with an Icon Stage 4.

just curious if anyone has done anything dramatic, like going from one lift to another, and if it was worth doing or problematic?

Do you have cross member to weld back in, or you going to get new frame? Plus original steering knuckles?

Move up to the 6” BDS lift and 35’s. Go big or go home.

I mean, my goal really isn't necessarily to change the lift kit per se. But I really do want to get rid of the spacers. I'm not really sure how to accommodate a 4" lift without spacer blocks though.

I think that dude Robmotive changed his lift three times on the same truck or maybe did it twice on one truck, sold it and figured out what he wanted by the third lift. I think he made a video about it, or three.

I have twins and that kind of free time sounds so lovely to have

There are coil-overs, shocks and leaf springs made that will marry up with your current kit. Not cheap, but cheaper then undoing the current setup and buying the icon set you posted. @AccuTune Offroad has this kit https://accutuneoffroad.com/product/kit-05-tacoma-fox-2-5-factory-race-series-shocks-dsc-4-6-lift/ but they may have others that will work, hit them up for what options you have.

Just curious. Were you recommended this lift by a shop or did you decide this on your own.

Originally I wanted 5100s and AAL for the rear. Well known local 4x4 shop recommended OME 2” lift. Happy so far and not planning to change anything for a long while.

custom leaf packs for the rear, and accutune sells shocks to get rid of the barrel spacers

Yes. I’ve done it four times now. Drastically different kits three of the times. Holy waste of money. I wish I would have either stuck with lift two or jumped to lift 4 and used the money from lifts 1-3 to do an even better job.

I went from 5100's to 6112's, not sure if that counts.

Why do you want to get rid of the spacers? AFAIK, the spacers on the front of a drop bracket lift do not cause any issues and there is no better solution. A drop bracket lift basically drops the entire IFS downwards and otherwise leaves its geometry intact with the exception of the spindle length. In any case, I believe Fox makes coliovers for 4-6" drop bracket lifts that remove the need for a spacer. I'm not sure you are gaining much thiough, as any extra uptravel in the shocks will be limited by your extended bumpstops.

Bracket lifts is not the way to go just to run 35’s or 37’s. Plus bracket lifts aren’t to off-road friendly if at all!
Best to go long travel with some FiberWerks fenders and bed sides. It is still very streetable and off road unbeatable. Granted much more pricier but well worth saving up for. Go 35’s or 37’s with a 3” lift and still able to fit in your garage. Even a good mid travel kit from Toytec and you can run 35’s if done right.
