    Hey fellow Tacoma owners.

    I own a 2003 4 door Tacoma PreRunner.

I'm in a very bad spot right now I'm about to be homeless due to some re location issues. I'm a military veteran.

Fortunately my truck is set with everything I need to temporarily live in it, except a camper shell.

I'm looking to buy a camper shell ASAP. My budget limit is $800.

    I live in Tucson, Arizona.

Please reply if you do have a shell thanks!

That sucks buddy. I’ve got a second gen one, but that’s not much help. Post in the AZ BS section. A lot more traffic over there.

    Best of luck.

Having been in that position before, I can say finding a good gym with good shower is a lifesaver

Thank you for that. I should be fine.

Maybe a month or so homeless.

Thank God I have this truck and all the things I need for camping.

Yes I figure a cheap membership at planet fitness would do good. Hopefully this will last for a month. I have a job lined up but won't start until a month or so. Can't move in anywhere without proof of income and job.

Just took a look through Craigslist. Not much out there. Do also look for softoppers. Won’t provide security, but will provide shelter and privacy.

    Free bump.

There is a 1Gen/LB 4sale in Tombstone/Elfrida (look at Craigslist) for $150 OBO. It needs a back window. The guy is motivated (he has dropped the price a bit since he first posted).

    https://sierravista.craigslist.org/pts/d/elfrida-custom-topper-snug-fit-for/7586898524.html

I will be out of town until Friday, but if you need a hand after then, I can help out. If the color is a concern (I know, I know) we can make arrangements to Raptor Liner it if needed. A kit is like $150. I’ll do the labor with you and I can shoot the liner (for an amateur, I fancy myself decent).

Arizona Truck Outfitters is closest dealer to see if (and what cost) the rear window can be replaced ((520) 624-6975).

If the cost of window replacement plus the shell exceeds your budget, I can help cover the difference for a brother in the war-of-life. I appreciate your service! PM if you need help.

Are you close enough to public land that you could buy a good tent and camp rather than use the cramped bed of a truck? You’d get a lot more room, ability to stand up, etc and not be tied to the truck for everything.

Thank you so much for the help! This really gives me hope.

I just messaged the seller. I'm hoping he still has it. It's actually the color of my truck. This would be good for my budget even if the window is broken.

I'm hoping he still has it.

I am but the issue is that I have camping gear that will not fit in the cabin.

So I need a shell to atleast have some sort of deterant while I'm not close by the truck.

Thankfully this will be for a month or so. I feel blessed it is not a permanent thing or extended issue.

Are you ETSing? There are definite benefits you should look into. ACS if you're not ETSing (may still be able to help). VA may be able to help. Or possibly find a AirB&B for a month? There's no reason you should be sleeping outdoors.

    Update:

I got good news. I just bought a camper shell.

Thankfully it was affordable. The gentleman even helped me install it with clamps, a brake light and a lock.

Now I have to figure things out where to camp out around Arizona.

    Any thoughts?

It's a big state lol, where are you looking? Certain area in mind? Staying close to Tucson? Looking for a long term site or are you bouncing around?

It is a big state sorry I'm just new here waiting for a job soon.

I'm trying to stay close to the Tucson area maybe 4 hours away. But I'm willing to be further. I'm bouncing around. Might as well make this homeless situation to a camping expedition.

4hrs covers a big area. Reddington offers lots of random spots, as well as Mt. Lemon for really close proximity. There's lots of places south towards sonoita too. Within 4 hrs, you could go down around Bisbee or east towards Wilcox/ mt. Graham. There's tons of options. As the snow melts, the backside of Mt. Lemon is a great place to explore too, access from Oracle until they open the gates from the top.
