Yeah if you click my avatar pic it will take you to what I've done.
I mostly just keep that updated with progress for my own sake, but ask away if you have any questions.

... probably dead thread ... but I've got a few questions.

I'm building a camper / enclosure with a few similar details.
Would anyone know what type of hinges were used for his side doors on the camper, the long hinges mounted to the 80/20 extrusion?
Also if anyone has any insight for where to source plascore or similar composites as well as how to bond that into an 80/20 frame for weather sealing I'm all ears...

Funny enough I work in Costa Mesa now (where this rig has been spotted a few times) maybe just maybe I'll get some answers irl.

    Big appreciate!

This is a great build - I love the hinges! I made a similar one using Ripcord's design a few years back. It has been awesome, but are experiencing some leak problems and trying to hunt them all down is a pain. Would love to hear recommendations for a good seal between the canopy and truck and between the alumilite and the 80/20 channel.

Just following up on this. Back to the overhang and only having to carry your feet is not entirely accurate.
It also has to carry to load of the roof minus the weight carried by gas lift struts.

Mounting the lift struts inside has worked okay. the main issue is that the bottom end of the strut starts out above the bottom so you have to physically lift the roof about 8" in order to get it going and then the struts lift it to it's full height.

For my tent I used 18oz vinyl coated polyester, similar to what Vagabond outdoors was using but I only used a single layer and they stitched theirs where I used HH66 adhesive. My sewing machine does not have a long enough arm to sew fabric that big.
I used vinyl coated fabric for the screens and clear vinyl for the clear windows.
It's 24 feet long and weighs about 24 pounds but it does not give a shit about wind at all. It's also 100% water proof.
I made my trashbag on the back of the camper out of the same stuff.
I highly recommend it but a heavy duty sewing machine is required.
