2.5" OME lift, Fox 2.5 coil overs, all pro expo leafs, ubolt flip kit w/ upgraded bump stops, 1.25" wheel spacers, 16" Bronze KMC Impact OL wheels, 295/75/r16 Nitto grapplers, beige Softopper, Brute force front bumper w/smittybilt winch, RCI rear bumper, caliraised rock sliders, TRD IFS skid plate custom swingout tailgate w/spare tire mount, TC bed stiffeners, Magnum force CAI, KC spotlights, tacomabeast headlights, rear seat molle panel odds and ends, hi lift, MESO interior lights, and a fuck load of patches… more planned for later.
Need some opinions, debating on throwing some bed liner around the bottom of the truck but I’m hesitant to do something permanent like that to the paint. I did a mock up photo edit and I think it’s an interesting combo of unique/functional in terms of looks as well as preventing dings/scratches on and off road when the tires kick up debris :notsure: all input welcome

If you have the means and regularly use your vehicle off-road, I say go for it! It looks great. Would love to do the same to my own truck down the road.

I think it gives it a bit of an older vibe with the 2 tone look. Looks good.

If you really are not sure hit it with some plasti-dip first, paint one side, walk around the truck, take it all in, compare the two sides, see how it really looks then make a more permanent decision if you like it. Sure the plasti-dip will cost a bit of money but a small price to pay if you try it and don't like it then no harm no foul.

They do color bed liner now, maybe do a red bed liner. I like the truck as is unless its color matched liner.

I think I’d try some of the clear protective film like they put on the front end to prevent rock chips.

I think it looks great as-is. If it were me, I'd wait until the chips and dings are there and then bedline that portion.

I think it would look really good. Plus you’re right that it would protect those bottom parts of the doors, etc. I think black and red look badass together.

Don't like the black trim at all but if you do so, I'd suggest using a clear 3M paint protectant. Then place black vinyl in the share you desire as you can now remove it. Once you bed-liner the paint, there is no turning back. I love the color of the rims to match the soft topper.

I'd get the beadlocks done in black as it compliments those rims. I don't like the rims without the locks. If it were me, I'd powder the locks in the same color bronze and black out the screws and center cap. Add a red TRD logo to the center cap after its black out.

If you’re not going to install an aftermarket rear bumper, I would say leave it stock and skip the bedliner on the bottom. Your truck looks nice the way it is. You can always airbrush some touch up paint into the scratches if they bother you. If you want an antenna for a CB or something you can easily add one.

Personally I would put some oversized rubber flexible mudflaps on and leave the paint alone. By bedlining it you will lose the good paint so, in my opinion, buy cheap O'reillys Plasticolor mudflaps ($20-$25 per pair) and then take a good off road trip. They come in standard or XL to suit your tire size (poke). If mudflaps don't protect the paint, and you get scratches, then bedline the bottom. The "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality. I had those mudflaps on my 3rd gen and, together with 5" nerfs, I could barrel down rocky roads, with rock throwing KO2's, and never sustained one body scratch or ding.

FINALLY got my third gen takeoff springs and shocks installed ( thanks again @TRDridgerunner ) as well as new brakes to go along with the new tires that I got a couple of weeks ago. The truck now sits nearly perfectly level. All four corners are within a half inch of each other.
