Hello, had an unfortunate accident happen today and was just wondering how bad this really is, insurance has already been contacted and I'll obviously get a answer after they look at it but was just curious as to how bad this is... The truck doesn't even have 500 miles yet.

Bummer. Looks expensive. Assuming the window frame is bent, the back window needs to be replaced.

    What’s the back story?

Let's just say when backing out of a garage it's best not to use the back up camera as you can't see if the garage door is fully open or not

My guess 4k to 5k+ damage. Back window alone is $1200

First, you have my condolences. I am nervous every time my narrow one-car-garage door is opening with my new truck, and need to control my need to back out quickly.

At risk of being "that guy" ... :crapstorm:

I have experience with this with my old Corolla (which was quite valuable to me at the time) and found a solution to prevent in the future.

    (1) Tie a long string length to the door brace carrier (clear of the chain) and run it forward against the house wall. Closed-loop screw-in hooks help guide the string.
    (2) Attach big-enough metal object at the wall side. It drags the string down the wall.
    (3) Develop the patience to wait for that object to drop from the high-door-closed and down to the low-door-open position.

Lol, its a old wooden garage door probably from the late 70s with thick metal where I struck the garage door, I was going maybe 3 miles per hour.

Edit: the garage door is in much better condition than the truck currently.

These jokers... They have forgotten the feeling you get just after doing something like this. Just before my wife and I signed over our house which we were selling (like a couple of days before the buyer walk-through), I backed out of the garage with my wife's Jeep. "The Jeep fought the door, and the Jeep won"... Just getting the garage door panel replaced was expensive. Things happen. Don't beat yourself up too badly.

In my case, the door panel was aluminum and essentially hollow. And, I was lucky it stopped where it did. The OP's door is wood with metal cross-member. Outch! Well, at least the buyer's got a re-calibrated and aligned door. Bad luck short-term but ultimately good long-term karma.
