Yeah that's what I used to do. With the M12 stubby impact, three ugga duggas torque the axle nut well beyond the FSM spec.

My factory NSK wheel bearing failed at 42,000 kms, or about 14,000 km after I previously removed & reinstalled the bearing to put in the RCV axles. Did the bearing fail from trail wear & tear or from overtorquing?

 

175lbs. Torqued. Last time around it was gun it and run it.

 

Anyone know if a 2014 3.73 e locker rear would be swappable for my 09 3.73 LSD rear
I know it would funtion just wanted to know about the locker being usable

I was hoping I would be able to wire it to a switch directly. Would the ECU have to have any involvement in signal sending?

My rear shit the bed for the second time so now I will have to spare axles to rebuild

 

I think the ECU only necessary if you want the safety interlocks and/or dash light to work as intended. If you don’t, just sending power and ground should do the trick.

That thread is for people with TRD OR trying to get the factory locker enabled outside of 4lo. Not directly applicable to your situation.

You don't need to have the ECU involved at all, though you won't have the dash lights indicating the locker has engaged/disengaged.

Caveat 1: The Toyota elocker doesn't engage instantly when you press the button. You need to drive slowly in a turn, etc. to get the splines line up. Going full-send before the locker is fully engaged could break things. This is why having an indicator light is helpful.

 

Not 100% sure. May want to look into cable actuating the elocker. Not sure if the second gens have kits. I do know they make them for the first gens.
