4th Gen Tacoma (2024+)

I really like my 07 with the trd s/c with no real reason to upgrade now going on 16 years of ownership, but if the 4th gen has no v6 I'll be out have to go 3rd gen with the mag blower.

 

Turbo4 in a Tacoma might as well get a WRX.

 

I work at an auto shop, right down the street from an actual Toyota dealership. One of the salesman came in today for a smog check. I was having a conversation with him and asked him the status of the new Tacoma, he said it is more likely the truck will come out at the end of the year or sometime in October.

 

If it were up to many members on here we would still be driving large displacement carbureted v8s that make 150 hp, get 12 mpg, and shit the bed at 100,000 miles. This fear of “new tech” is honestly getting tiresome, most cars are significantly more reliable today then they were in the past. I heard the exact same sentiments before the third gen came out about the 3.5. Now almost a decade later there’s members here like myself pushing close to 200k with zero issues from the engine and fully expecting 150-200k more miles without issue. Give me the the new 2.4t hybrid, It will absolutely put the 4.0 and 3.5 to shame in terms of torque and will most likely be just as reliable as previous gens. Simply put, modern engines are more expensive to fix these days when something goes wrong, but it’s much less likely for things to go wrong in the first place. Same exact thing happened in motocross with the introduction of 4 strokes. People love to hate.

 

Pretty sure Tundra went live September 2021. That's the timeline I'm expecting.

Yes, I have. They sound awesome yet I don’t mind having a small engine that can deliver the needs.

 

I believe the actual timeline schedule was for it to hit Dealerships somewhere around Jan of 24.

 

In other words, we have about a year until we start seeing blown turbo posts in here.

Right on. I am not going to be in the market for awhile, but will not have many concerns moving into the 2.4l hybrid when the time comes (and after they work the kinks out). Excited to see this thing drop so I can take one for a test drive.

 

why cant they put in a 6cyl TURBO? like an old supra motor perhaps.

 

They do. It's called a Tundra though.

 

As I said on here a while back... until you see a CARB executive order for it posted, you won't see it on the street. Right now there's no reason to camp out at your dealer.
