    Evening,

I have had a ARE midrise topper on my tacoma for 3 1/2 years on my truck but it has never been quite properly squared and lined up, a bit hang over one side rail With a gap. Not the original owner so no warranty applies to my topper. So I finally got around to calling a local truck topper shop that sells various brands or new, used truck toppers, they told me it would be around $200.00 and under 2 hours for my 19 SR topper to be realigned and properly seated on truck bed. Does that sound a reasonable price these days? Also what foam gasket tape should I bring or have them buy to use on the seal between the topper and truck bed rails for best water leak prevention?

That seems like alot but it’s somewhat reasonable to me if it includes materials and they reseal it all for you. I think that’s a too much money if they want $200 literally just to reposition it and clamp it back down. Just my two cents, not an expert but I also have an ARE shell.

Is the problem just the position of the topper relative to the bed? You should be able to undo the clamps, then get in the bed and 'stand up' beneath the topper to lift and shift it in to the position you want, then re-tighten the clamps. Similarly you should be able to lift one side of the topper at a time and prop it up to apply foam gasket tape. Have no specific recommendations on brands for that, sadly.

When we installed it by hand years ago… it was difficult enough for two of us lol. This topper place uses a forklift and has several people align it… wouldn’t the topper being installed directly on top of the foam gasket make an instantly better seal with all the equal Pressure applied at once vs back and forth aligning it by hand having difficulty?
