Best 6" lift and should I install it myself?

First off, I'm a little dumb.

I gifted my girl my truck so I can keep from buying her a new WRX. She likes my truck stock, but she always talks about lifting it a little. It has 265/75/r16 duratracs on it but they are wearing thin after 40k miles.

I am looking to add a 6" (despite my best efforts to convince her of a 3" - size doesn't matter LOL) lift and I am looking for the most reliable kit. I will be adding another set of duratracs, preferably 315/75/r16.

I have seen procomp, rough county and BDS kicked around on here, but I don't know if I need a $3500 lift for a pavement princess.

I am going to try to install it myself, although it will be my first lift kit install I don't know if I trust my local store to do it.

So what lift and is the install worth paying someone else to do it?

    Thanks

Honestly its not for everyone, and the less you spend the worse it drives. So ideally a 3-4000$ setup is minimum. Otherwise you have giant spacers on factory coils, it just doesn't drive nice.

A 2-3" lift is still "big" and will drive much nicer in the long run. For a lot less money.

If you don’t wanna drop the 3500 then don’t do it.
It takes a bit to get the 6” right.

But, if it’s gonna be on pavement all it’s life, and you’re cool with leaving the barrel spacers and blocks, it’ll be fine.

I run a pro comp with a whole bunch of other crap. But I off road my truck.

BDS and pro comp are virtually the same. Fabtech for some reason creates a loss for steering radius on 3rd gens.

Install is up to you. Honestly, if you have some moderate mechanical experience it’s not a problem. You can look up pro comps install instructions on their website and decipher for yourself if it’s a task you can manage.

You’re gonna get a lot of heat for asking about a bracket lift on this forum - but who cares. It’s your truck, your taste, your money. A third of these fools have parts on their vehicles that aren’t even necessary for their use and just “follow” the influencers.
Do what you want and take the heat with a grain of salt

im currently on the rough country 6in with front adjustable coils and vertex reservoir shocks all around . Great quality and great ride. I was dead set on getting this lift, for the fact of all the a holes that are against it . well money spent

6” spacers in the front and go with 5” blocks in the back and then repair as needed. Do it yourself, how hard can it be? Please post picks.

Keep in mind most 6" lift will require a 17" wheel size or larger to clear new suspenion parts. You'll need to allocate more money for new wheels also.

Depending on which lift you get, double check with them for the wheel spec you'll need to clear everything.

Really should consider a good 2-3" lift. Some states won't pass inspection if the front is cut. Also, resell on it would not be very good. If you are going to keep it forever, you'd be okay, but I'd really look into everything before you make a final decision. They can be installed correctly and look great, just do research before you decide.

I had plans of a 6" and honestly rough country was the best budget friendly one to choose from . Yeah it was $$$ thousands but worth every penny . Here in Washington state i-5 is garbage, rough interstate, and this lift handles it great , off-road performance is better than expected also so I can justify that it was well money spent don't be hating.
