Don't need any service for nav, especially if you download offline maps or are just tracking with Gaia.

I only wish the cases had a built in spot for some sort of backup tether. I know it makes it look like the system can fail by having it but lets face it, when the bike slams down, you slam into a tree, or you go over the bars and hit the phone on the way it can absolutely fall off. Ask me how I know. :anonymous:

I've always liked the idea of that kit. Would absolutely have one on an ADV bike on a big trip.

You've managed to dislodge your phone from quadlock? That's honestly impressive. Does your mount have that additional spring lever that you have to push down to get the phone off?

I bought one a couple months ago, still haven't tried it, been putting off my F800's tire change until the weather gets nicer. Seems like it'll work well, though. Especially given how I can sit on the tires I bought and they barely deflect. I'm going to have to get them real hot to get any kind of pliability out of them, ugh.

So the one issue I've run into with the Rabaconda is the width adjustment - it's got a narrow setting for front wheels and a wide setting for rear wheels. Unfortunately the bracket they supplied for the width adjustment doesn't work. I emailed Rabaconda and they're aware of this issue and will send out a new bracket... in a few months. They said it's possible to do front tires on the wide setting though in the mean time.

It does, I also have broken the quad piece off before too so I carry a spare now.

It’s like you’re a mind reader. I’ve got a new seat skin arriving tomorrow! I appreciate the offer but don’t mind removing my factory seat cover and stapling on this new one.

Not yet. I’m playing the long game. They didn’t want to budge on the admin fees and they weren’t even including the sales tax in that so it was looking closer to $6,300 OTD on the monkey. Even flashed my checkbook and said I can take it now if they’re willing to work with the price. No dice. Sales guy took my number and I said to call me if he wants the extra sale for the month.

I swapped out my tubes for UHD tubes just for peace of mind. I decided I don’t want to carry a whole spare tube and only want to carry a patch kit. My first time changing a tire as far as I can remember, what a pain.

Damn. It'd be cheaper to drive a few hours than pay that BS. I refuse to pay over MSRP, especially on a nonessential item like a bike. Makes me furious that they do that in the first place.

This is something I've never done and not looking forward to learning how to do. Just watched Ben (Dork in the Road) replace the front tube of his Africa Twin on the side of the road, and it didn't look like it was fun. Necessary skill to have a bike I suppose, but I'm spoiled with lug nuts and a spare tire.

Question: Did the Doritos Dust blessing help or hinder the process?

It wasn’t THAT bad and I’m sure doing it a few times will help, but yeah, not something I love to do. The videos online make it look so much easier than it is.

The dust was in lieu of baby powder which some folks like to put in there with the tube. Time will tell if it helps or hinders.

It’s common practice here in SoCal unfortunately. Buying at MSRP is like finding a mermaid riding a unicorn that hands you a winning lottery ticket. Bikes sell themselves here so even if the dude completely blows me off, some other idiot is waiting in line behind me to give him what he’s asking and will feel lucky enough to have found one in stock to begin with. One of the reasons I procrastinated so long on even going to the dealer to start this dance. It is what it is though. Some dealers will advertise “no dealer fees” but they usually find a way to add some stuff to the fine print. We all know they’re flexible, it’s just a matter if they’re willing to play ball to get their monthly stats up.

Yeah, I'd plan a road trip to a different state as a mini vacation and I'd pick up a bike out of state. I'd rather spend the money on gas and food for a road trip than give it to shady a$$wipes. I realize everyone doesn't have the time to do that and you may be stuck, but I'm pissed on your behalf. I hope you can find a good deal on one and not get gouged too badly.
