Did not come with mudguards and I can't decide if I want them or not. If I do, I'll probably get the OE Toyota guards.

Do they really help keep mud/debris off the truck? Downsides?

Truck is stock for now, at least until out of warranty, but down the line I plan on a mild lift and 33's.

    Cheers.

Do you plan on off roading? If yes, do not get them. They are a hard plastic and will break off immediately and / or also rip off the fender liner.

Depends on if you like stonechips, and rust or not? Personally I have the oem oval step boards, and tufskinz flaps. keeps just about all but, sprayed road water off the lowers. Ski

They’re good if you’re off the road. Not good if you off-road. I leave them on for DD, but if I’m going to do a trail, I take them off and put them in the shop before I leave.

Personally, I say yes. I have the Husky brand mudflaps. Good fit, price, look and function. But, if you go to 33's, you will probably have to take the fronts off to avoid rubbing. Like someone said, if you offroad it, you will probably break them off at some point. I ran my truck for about a week without them when I first got it and it happened to be a snow week and I had debris everywhere. Will your truck look better right after washing it without them, some would say yes, but I don't wash my truck every day and am also worried about rock chips. Try them out and if you don't like them you are out a few bucks or you can sell them to get some of your money back.

Leave them on or get aftermarket ones. Protect that paint.

Look into some steps or sliders that hug near the rocker panels. Great protection against door dings and whatever your front tires throw up towards the paint. Toyota also uses chip guard in the clear coat on the lower part of the rocker panels

I installed rekgens on my sr. Big difference in how much dirt and mud gets on the side of the truck

+1 for the Rekgen. I had the OEM guards but ran into rubbing when I changed wheels/tires. Thinner, more flexible guards like the Rekgen will be fine off-road and your paint will thank you.

And remember that mud guards aren't just for your truck... They're also for the people following you on the road.

I've got the oem flaps on mine to help with protecting the paint and keeping mud from my driveway getting all over everything.

I put mine on the literally the minute I brought truck home from the dealer.
I also have 6" wide running boards, and I still hear an occasional stone hit the bottom of the running board.
I would not drive the truck without mud flaps. I do not like rust and paint chips.

This is what I have, and I do not see any difference between them and OEM Yota ones.

PS I use my truck as a farming truck, so it sees mild off-roading on forest floor (no road), freshly tilled earth and deep (6"-8") mulch. Flaps stayed on.
