I mean like, hydrolocked the engine or something like that.

    No, I got the truck as a daily-driver-toy, so, it's already a toy. :D

Did you see the black second gen at the trains last year? That's Adam. He's already there. And still rockin it - but I think he has a sedan or something else as a daily. If not, you'll see it when you come with us to NMW this year :boink:

    see what i did there

Haha close, my brother in law has a Ridgeline. Had a few thoughts about Tacomas as well and just happened to get the best deal on that.

Not sure if the unit had that capability but the screen was cracked to shit so IDK, I just did the math in my head and my battery by those #'s is around 64%. That said the voltage dipped less after driving it for a while. I have to go out for a meeting tonight so I might stop at a different store and have it tested there, see if the CCAs have jumped.

I got 231K out of my '06 Tundra. It was still running well, but starting to show it's age and I knew that we had some upcoming road trips thanks to COVID. So, I replaced it with the '19 Tacoma which had under 10K miles on it. That was June of 2020 and today it has 64K on it. Still going strong and based on what I've seen on my trips to Texas, it will go on for a long time.

Three trips to SC (two with side trips to TN), one trip to Texas and back. Normal wear parts, like brakes and tires, oil changes and scheduled maintenance. At the next oil change I'm planning to get the rear differential fluid changed just because it's going to be 67K or so.

I do the engine and cabin filters myself and always check those before an oil change. I see no reason to pay 1/2 hour labor for each to be changed.

    Hello internet friends.

Here's a tl;dr up front: I'm an OEF veteran who worked closely with a bunch of local partners in Afghanistan, and since the fall of the regime a group of my former colleagues have been getting them out and safe while the rest of the world kind of just pretends they don't exist. This specific group of Afghans are literally on kill lists, and they and their families have been tortured and killed whenever the Taliban regime can get their hands on them. We have successfully relocated most of our guys and their families, but international attention has petered out and we're desperately trying to get the last 20-30 families out and safe. We recently exhausted the last of the funds that were keeping them safe and fed over the winter, and I'm at my wit's end trying to find anyone willing to donate.

The long version: It's hard for me to explain (partly because of the sheer scope and partly because a lot of the details have been handled by others in my group) the entire situation, but what it boils down to is, we have everyone out of Afghanistan who is still alive or can be reached, and they and their families are in hiding in neighboring countries and various other places. We have a "pipeline" built, working, and ready to get them to resettlement, and at this point, it comes down to having the funds to pay for their exit fees and the (actually pretty small) financial guarantees to give them a start in their new homes. We have a UN agency covering the airfare, and dedicated aid organizations on the receiving end to make sure they're plugged into housing, services, and school for their children.

I've been personally involved in ventures meant to secure work for some of our guys in areas that they have expertise in, and I've been doing my absolute best to directly fundraise, but I'm not the most plugged in person in the world socially and most of my friends and family are, well, poor like I am. The amount of money per family that we need is really shockingly small, which makes it even more frustrating that it's so difficult for us to raise funds.

Is anyone here involved in social or church organizations where I might be able to give a pitch or at least have my buddy, the real brains behind the operation, reach out? Any donations would be going to a legally established charity, and we have zero overhead (for real, no paid staff whatsoever, all funds directly serve the mission), 100% open accounting, costs breakdowns, and hard proof of success/viability - the trouble is finding people who even want to hear about it. Here's a link if you want to take a look - https://www.speroworldwide.org/

    Thanks in advance!

Remind me, where is the Toyota dealer that people order from that gives a good discount?

Pretty sure the alternator is trash. Heard a high pitched whine when I opened the hood and started it, plus smell burning rubber near the pulley.

Was it Boch or another one?

Pretty sure McGeorge Toyota has an online parts store with very fair pricing as does Boch. Boch used to allow for on-site pickup to save on shipping costs but last few times I ordered that was no longer an option

Sullivan in Kingston lets you pick up and doesn’t charge a fee like Boch used to. They’re not always the absolute cheapest but they’re in the ball-park.

I think Toyota is doing free shipping right now though so any of the online arms will work without tax.

I wouldn't bother going to Toyota to get an alternator, as all they sell is remanufactured. You can buy a Denso reman off of RockAuto with our 5% discount code. They have 2 options, depends on how many ribs the serpentine belt is.

EB Parts is the parts store at Boch in North Attleboro. They have pretty good prices. They don’t want you to buy online and pickup in the store but you can just show up at the parts counter and buy what they have in stock.
