What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Does it mount straight up or do you need modify it? I love the look of it, it would look good on my 2010 red taco.

 

Is there a bigger thread about these, preferably showing the different color options?

 

I always had huge problems with my bass box behind the seat rattling and blowing subs because the back of the seat was restricting excursion - it would often sound great, for only a little while.

Each sub is dual 4 ohm and has its own 500W RMS amp. There is a crossover so the 10" handles the high-lows/mids and the 18" handles the low-lows.

I had to decide to sacrifice my back seat to get the bass I so desperately need. The subs are modular though, so I can put them in the bed if I need to. Not that I really have any friends to carry around anyways. Finally I have an acceptable amount of bass.

And yes, I know I will die if I have a front-end collision. But I will die doing what I love, so that's ok.

And no, this is not an Infinity, it's a 2nd gen.

 

Did you have to remove the plastic step pads to get the Bumpershellz to fit? Or do they just slide up against them? Thinking this is my best solution to cover the chrome and dings. And you can't beat $99 for the bed lined ones, since I was just going to bedline my bumper any way this summer.

If that is the SDR series, your box is way too small and you aren’t pushing enough wattage to it. I had the same 18 running on 800+ rms with the biggest ported box that could possibly fit with the rear single seat removed and it still wasn’t enough. Not even close. These subs need much more ported volume than skar says on their site to hit the low lows. I was going to switch to sealed which I’ve heard works better for these subs but I ended up going with the VXF 15 instead. Just my suggestion since I dealt with the headache of trying to make it work.

also, rather than running that second 10 inch, a good set of components with a frequemcy range that meets the top end of the sub will sound much better. The LPF for the 18 is typically between 60-80hz so if you find a set of speakers with a bottom range of about 90hz, the roll off should fill that range.

As a bass head myself, I totally get your philosophy of having all frequencies covered.

Yeah still gives it that factory look while giving tons of clearance. I’m not a huge fan of the rounded front ends we’ve got. This is another person I found that did it, super clean

 

If I remember right I think I removed the center pieces but left the corners because they were harder to do. The bumper shell just slides up under it anyway. You just need to make sure you get it right the first time because the tape adhesive is very strong.

 

Honestly it looks like it came like that.
Will probably do that to mine when I go up to 35s.

 

I've thought about doing it to mine but I'm afraid I won't get it right and I'll hate it.

 

Would this make that axle boot a bit more susceptible to tear via wild flying rocks?

Also, would this look good at all with 33s?

Only asking because free mods are my favorite, my my front bumper is cut up anyway

the factory paint was already wrecked so I wasn’t worried about messing it up. Yours looks like it’s in such good condition that maybe some vinyl or plastidip would be the better option.

If you do decide to bedline it I would definitely put a clear coat on it because it looks like junk when it fades

 

This makes me want to upgrade to a 2.5 gen just because of the updated front end with more cut lines lol
