I just got the ultimate toytec suspension lift with the adjustable coilovers. It comes preset at 2.5'' but i want to take it up to 3''. when I begin to adjust, do I torque it to make the coil compress more or less....?

This. Remember that for every unit of compression in the spring, you'll see roughly double at ride height...i.e. .5" of C/O adjustment will result in approximately 1" of ride height change.

I have that kit on the warden's 4runner. The whole "preset to 2.5" is a best guess by ToyTec and frankly a bunch of BS.

Measure either from the rim lip or center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender BEFORE you install. You need a baseline so you know how much overall lift you have.

Don't bother adjusting them till they are installed. The higher up you take them before you install them, the bigger PITA they are to install them.

After you've got them installed put your wheels back on and take another measurement. I'm not sure how yours will show up, but the way mine showed up from Toytec put the runner at a whopping 5" of lift!

To adjust, hold the bottom wrench stationary and rotate the top wrench to lift or lower. As I remember it, with the coilover installed, look strait down the body of the coilover. Rotating the the top wrench clockwise to lower and counter clockwise to raise.

Righty tighty...but will actually lowers the Toytec coils. The spanner collars on on the bottom of the coilover, not the top. But yes, compressing the spring = more lift.

    Also worth mentioning:

A proper adjustment involves some trial and error and driving, and goes something like:

    - Measure baseline on level surface.
    - Jack truck, droop IFS.
    - Adjust coils.
    - Return truck to ground.
    - Drive a couple miles. Try to hit some potholes, railroad tracks and shit like that.
    - Return to level surface and re-measure.
    - Repeat until desired ride height is attained.
    - Go getcha alignment.

Good alignment specs are subjective. If you're interested, I can give you a few numbers.

Remember to check your CV boots and make sure your comfortable with the risk level there from your lift height.

    ^^^X2.
The new tires I ordered showed up late...which was a good thing. It took me two weeks of adjusting before I got it set perfectly at 3". The suspenison settles after farting around and actually driving. Speed bumps work well. :D

jandrews is right. I'd recommend you don't put your new wheels and tires until after your alignment is done. It doesn't take much to screw up a brand new set of tires.

And as I'm sitting here I'm having flashbacks of swear words and thrown tools. It's all coming back to me from the Toytec install. In the time frame where you are adjusting the coils (however many hours/days/weeks it may take until you are happy) just keep the damn sway bar off the truck. You have to pull the sway bar any way to put the relocation brackets on. Just keep it off otherwise you have to disconnect the end link every time you want to adjust the coils up or down.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the end results. The bilsteins are supper cushy and the wife loves it, it's just the whole inverted fucking coil adjuster is a royal pain in the ass when it comes to adjustments.

mine doesnt come with any sway bar relocation brackets....I think thats only for 4runners and fj cruisers....my coilover adjustment is a lot simpler than that...i believe...ha

edit: and as far as the new set of tires go...why would it make a difference on the tires I put? ride height or??

Still gotta pull the end links to adjust.
Poor alignment will chew up the tires fast.
