    Thanks

I roughed it up lightly with a scotch brite pad, then dusted it with self etching primer before putting on several coats of top coat. This is 2+ years ago, no signs of peeling or chipping.

Just a side note, I did paint the grille as well... this was a free one I found in a bodyshop cast off pile. Just had a minor scratch in it.

If you dip it you don't need to wreck your grille by scuffing up the surface. Plasti-Dip lasts and is the easiest way to do it. That way if you decide to go back to chrome, you can. Make sure to use 6-8 LIGHT coats and let each coat dry before spraying the next.

+1 for plastidip. What I did to mine before switching to a cheapo pro-style grille. Almost no prep (other than cleaning), super simple, and showed no wear after well over a year.

I sprayed that grill with bedliner and thought it looked great. I held up for a year and a half before needing some touch up, so not perfect but I wouldn't expect much more. I plastidipped my previous grill and wish I just spayed it with a more permanent product.

I also plastidipped as a temporary solution to see how it looked. I liked it well enough to have not purchased a grille 9mo later. I honestly didn't even do much prep because I figured it wouldn't be there very long, but I think I degreased and washed it. I removed and disassembled the grille and sprayed it in several light coats until the can was gone. It came out significantly better than I expected and doesn't have any chips or issues so far. There is also a product called Hyperdip that comes out darker, if I was going to do it again I would probably use that.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Take the grill off and plasti dip it. I did that on the stock ‘16 sport chrome grille I had and it lasted years before I changed it out. And it peeled off when I removed it.
