BX Built out of business?

Facts. American express is currently fighting a battle over a charge from 3 years ago for me over a warranty that was not honored. That’s why I use a cc for everything

 

yah def When I read the terms of my credit card not paypal they had some extension that if you never received it then the term would be longer which I lucked out on. I was way past 180 days as well. Even worse for the folks that decided to use bank accounts or money orders.

 

BXbuilt posted his home on his instagram years ago, right? I'm sure the internet sleuths could do something, no? Didnt he also have a photography business, track him down that way?

Still, y'all that pay up front to a company that says they order parts "immediately", clearly install aliexpress equipment into Depo headlights really thought it would be just fine waiting 22+ weeks for your $1,000 retrofit and not have any issues? Cmon man!! ALL the warning signs were there!

 

I had a very similar experience. I did wind up getting my lights about 8 weeks beyond the quoted lead time but they arrived with issues. I was only able to get them to honor their warranty after filing a claim with my cc company and starting the back charge process.

I've gotten several compliments on the lights and any time I did I told them not to order from BX. This news just makes me even more glad I said that.

 

Glad I never did business with them, I asked about sending them a set of headlights for another vehicle to be retrofitted as well as purchasing a set for my 4runner at the time. He must've used the money to paint match his vehicles all yellow.

 

As someone with a finance degree who works in the money transmission field (for whatever that's worth), this scenario shoes the advantage of using credit cards. To get a dispute/chargeback going with your credit card provider is super easy. Contact them, sign the affidavit, easy peasy. Gather your evidence and get screenshots of all your stuff saved.

Also, if you paid using paypal, you need to find out what that process looks like with them. There's apparently a 180 day limit on initiating disputes with paypal, but I would suspect that pertains only to purchases that were funded using a standing balance on a person's paypal account (like, your paypal "cash"). If you paid THROUGH paypal using your credit card, I would contact your credit card provider (visa, discover, etc.) and pursue a dispute that way. If you paid using any other means, call the attorney general and be prepared to be the squeakiest wheel ever.

but will a CC actually side w/ someone 28 weeks later over a business that declares bankruptcy? CC will not get their money back from now defunct business, why would they side w/ the customer in this case? The CC would have to eat it if they side w/ customer. Why would they do that?!

 

I'm going to assume that's insured so you get your money back and they themselves, CC, get paid as well.

 

I'm not sure exactly how it would work given that it probably involves bankruptcy (under normal circumstances) and the type of business structure used, but it will ultimately come down to who's left holding the bag, so to speak, in terms of the liability of the transaction. Obviously, bankruptcy is an extenuating circumstance, but transactionally, the business is obligated to fulfill their duty and "deliver the goods." Whether it's the business, the business owner/operator, or the bank that pays the tab, I'm not sure. But the CC companies aren't overly concerned with disputes. Overall, it's not a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of money they move every day.

As people dispute the transactions with this place, I'd be interested to hear what their CC companies say. That said, the AG still needs involved, because there still needs to be consequences even if the processor or bank picks up the tab.

Some one I spoke to over the phone at Pelfrey when they were still in business told me to build my own retrofits.

 

That explains them not responding to my warranty claim. Shit.

Not an issue, ordered my replacement HID headlights from Morimoto directly. Arrived at my house today and should have them installed by Saturday. Time to clean up my old HID headlights and post them up for sale.

 

They used sales@bxbuilt.com for email contact so i dont have any direct contact but this is the instagram of the supposed “co owner” and headlight GaTeKEePeR:

The NV secretary of state website has a business registry that lists BX built LLC with its agent and address

 

Guess the warranty is out

 

I ordered my headlights back in july 15, 2022, i contacted them 3 to 4 months after purchase both by messaging on their website and calling them. Was told they will contact me when they are ready to build. At the the time the build time was 22 weeks. I then messaged them back in jan and feb 2023, no response from them. Then this morning I went to go on their website and it is no longer active. When i looked up the address is shows to be a shipping and u haul rental business. When I called the phone number the voicemails are still full. I am did file a dispute with paypal regarding this, I will keep everyone up. Also noticed that businesses that have dealt with them, are no longer offering their products.

 

Did your PayPal dispute go through? I filed one yesterday and it bounced back within 15 mins saying it was outside 180 days.
