For real "fast baja sorta shit"...your $35k budget is really $15k cause half of that will be spent on labor fabricating shit.

Knew a guy that was about a quarter of a million in each truck (2 trucks) for what you're wanting to do.

The best would be SAS the front and link the rear.

None, but the topic was what's best offroad when what type of offroad couldn't be defined.

Baja throphy style trucks are cool and are probably the best offroad if that offroad is going to be fast.

I was actually thinking SAS and IFS in the rear. That would be like driving the truck in reverse. After seeing a squated truck, that is neither carrying a load or longtravel in the front anything is possible.

In the not too distant future, there will be a build thread, in the 1st gen build section, of a race truck.

The dude is married, and has been for a long time, and will be for a long time... bet me... I'm psychic.

But my wife is the exception to the rule.

    Good for him.
If he has the money, the time, and it makes him happy. I say go for it.
I’m am no longer interested in anything that’s related to racing.
I was there, spent the money, and had my fun.

    Lmao

I don't have the money, or the time... but it will make me happy and I figure I get to chase at least one more dream before lights out.

The wife is supportive and excited... and probably has a better idea of the cost than I give her credit for.

She's my ride or die... literally... the plan is her as my co-driver.

Come back and see us after your v8 swap is done. Consider it a 'beast mode' requirement.

I think you might have meant IRS?

Yep. Youth with drag racing GTOs, moved to GT cars when the kids were first gone, then to autox, which if kept at the local level and in street classes is about the most race fun you can have for the $

If OP actually wants to build a legal race truck:

decide on what class you’re racing. Look at what those cars are running for parts and specs.

If OP wants a “race truck” that sees a dirt parking lot despite being able to ha flex. whoops at hwy speeds:

    Copy this truck:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyotally-awesome-08-tacoma.328604/

For $35k I would just buy a used Ford raptor for $25k. Long travel with a V8. Use leftover $10k cash to put a roll cage in it. And freshen up the suspension and/or motor.

really OP, find someone in your area with the “ideal” style truck you want to build. Ask them for a ride in it off-road. Talk to them for a while and get an idea of what their vehicle took to build in terms of time, $, & parts.

A civilian race truck can be built for ~$15k. It won’t be long travel but full skids, 3” lift, BBK w/ master cylinder upgrade, heated leather seats, Android HU.

    So......
Is there still a "stock class " for score or one of thoes types of racing body's ?
I remember reading about Donahoe racing entering a dubble cab with stock geometry suspension and wining there class at least once before things went sideways for them .
I think that would be a bunch of fun. Or the bugs, those guys take a beating!

    Also.
