I mean, it could be worse. I could send you pictures of built 80s on IG every now and then. :stirthepot:

Yeah I think the topper is awesome. Keeping the 80series and the Tacoma? I just sold my 80 and bought a first gen. Yours looks like it’s in great shape.

    No agree!

Man, I keep going back and forth with a simple build on 33”/35” or going straight to 37” tires. No need to put more fuel on the fire.:bananadead:

    Thanks man!

I have the topper and the truck with topper up for sale right now. If they don’t sell after a certain time (not sure how long I’ll have it up for) I’ll be forced to figure out a way to keep both.

What model year was the 80 you had and what year is your current first gen? Happy with the change?

My 80 was a 97 LX450, triple locked and all the good stuff, you can check it out in my thread.
My truck now is a 99’ xtra cab.
I’m not unhappy with the change. I wanted to build a pickup and take advantage of the current prices of Landcruisers so I sold it. From a capability standpoint the 80 was a lot more capable than this truck but eventually I hope the Tacoma will get there and turn into something like yours. I miss the cruiser but happy to build something else, I’ve had a few Tacomas but left them stock. I don’t miss the fuel mileage of the 80 LOL

Very cool, sounds like I'm going the opposite way. I really do plan to keep the 80 fairly stock. I don't have factory lockers so I'll be looking into adding some (not sure if I'll go with air or electric just yet), sliders, tires and wheels (most likely carry over the set I had on the Tacoma for now).

Fuel mileage between the two is roughly the same, give or take 1-2 mpg's. I'm sure the weight of the Wildernest is making a big impact on that for the Tacoma and I have street tires on the 80. I'm undecided on which direction I want to go with on the 80 so I'm going to really take it slow.

After a lot of back and forth last year, the Tacoma is here to stay. Ended up selling one of our other cars so it's no longer on the chopping block.

Tacoma hasn't changed much. Just keeping up with the maintenance. Rebuilt all shocks, installed Deaver leaf packs in place of the OME Dakars and swapped the wheels back to the TE's a little while ago.
