I was looking at new fridges at Lowes yesterday afternoon and only saw one Midea. I've never heard of that brand before. Ironically, we bought two GE's from Costco and sent them both back prior to getting this LG. One regular GE and one GE profile. Neither would get cold. Costco was very helpful, but they weren't thrilled about returning two defective GE's. The LG was awesome while it worked, but they're not worth the price.

I'm not sure I trust Sqauretrade to reimburse me if needed and when I spoke with LG they tried to tell me the serial number on the fridge was wrong, but I was able to text a picture of the sticker on the door.

The Lowe's associate mentioned LG compressors are supposed to be covered for 10 years parts and labor, so hopefully that's all it is depending on Monday's diagnosis between 1pm-5pm. I'm sure they'll tell me they need to order parts and I'll have to wait longer.

I'm leaning towards just buying a new fridge next week. :annoyed:

Samsung and LG need to stick to phones, even those they arent that good at making though. A Lot of appliance techs wont touch either.

Maytag, Whirlpool, Frigidaire would be my picks.

Brand new Frigidaire... Had to have a warranty call because the defrost quick working and the fridge would slowly warm up. We didn't even have it a year. 16784154742438025702788355293775.jpg

Sat my fat rear end in it.
Had the exact same thing happen to our new Maytag recently.
2 weeks to get an authorized tech out to diagnose it.
4 weeks waiting for a new motherboard, that they shipped to our house.
2 more weeks to get the techs back to install it.
During that two months of waiting, when it would start warming up we'd empty it and unplug it to let it defrost. Super convenient.

speaking of refrigerators - according to this guy they are all trash. I have no reason to not believe him. I have a Samsung that the ice maker will occasionally just stop working. Fortunately I'm DIY enough that I just fix it myself. My mom had the exact same mid 1980's Maytag fridge show at the beginning of the video and it broke all the time too, so it's not a new problem.

It's far from level. Standard toe kick, 4". The cabinet on the right has almost an inch cut off the bottom. The middle has about 3/4" cut off. The left one I will have to shim up to match the height.

One this one, there is a 2" drop from the exterior wall in, meaning the left side is two inches lower than the right side.
Note how the cabinet is leaning here. LOL

I believe it. Quality is few and far between these days along with good customer service.

The Lowes associate I was talking to the other day mentioned the type of refrigerant used in linear compressor fridges is more corrosive than the old r134a and contributes to their early demise. He also thought the LG issue was software and electronic related. I've read it's a seal that fails with the compressor system. :notsure:

Either way, I'm ready to drag this LG down the street behind my truck. :smash::infantry:

OH! it looked fairly level. I feel your pain. This run of cabinets dropped nearly 3" from R to L and nearly 1" from Front to Back. Had to cut/rip long shims to level everything. Bought some 1/2" X 8" clear pine to make new toe kicks. Good times.

Do you have a link for the doorbell transformer mount parts you used?

Just a plate with a 1/2” knockout in the center. Nothing fancy.

also, rather amusing, I have 2 side by side 3 way circuits and somehow I botched one but the other one works perfectly. Hilarious really. Took everything apart, checked my commons, even did some live troubleshooting but kinda confused. Just one of those days I guess. I’ll have to really dive in to figure out what I did wrong. I should have dealt with this before the drywall went in. At least all the other circuits seem good.

It's a great value, and when I ordered (on sale) for PU at HD, it included a freebee toolbox!

The ironic thing to make the dimension to fit the silly Harbor Fright mobile base I needed the planer - I can't remember the dimension but the steel corner braces will not work with a standard 2x2. The planer was smooth and worked perfectly. The supplied hardware for the HF base took standard wrenches, but the the threads were neither standard or metric! WTAF??? Plus they shorted me three bolts and the instructions were a complete joke. I've had and expect just a bit better from HF. The worst Chiniseum in quite awhile. I had to jockey the table with planer onto the base, but it works fine.
