I've been looking at he "build" section on the Chevy website here in Canada, they don't offer the '23 Colorado yet?? They can't get their act together, nice to see the new truck but getting one isn't even a thing. I can't see any new developments make me question my purchase of a '23 Taco. I also will never purchase a new or newish model just to deal with the first few years of bugs. I have a Chevy Cruze, what a shitbox. It has to be leaking, repair a leak and another one develops immediately. Oil line to the turbo-5 or 6 times, cam end caps 3 times, coolant almost constantly leaks from the tank or a fitting by the thermostat, transmission axle shaft seals, water pump seals, pcv valve which makes you replace the valve cover 4 times!! Chevy went on and on about how much testing they did on it when in development, I think that is a bullshit line. I don't trust the "American" makers to produce anything but a pile of shit. Prove me wrong. I'd rather have a refined model that doesn't have all the gimmicky unreliable bullshit trying to lure me in. 4 cyl turbo? Yeah sure! I have one in the Cruze, and judging by that, 130K miles is going to be a long difficult journey to finish, absolutely no chance of 200 or 300K+ miles. You can have your Ranger, Colorado, Silverado, F150 or whatever turbo'd steaming pile you like, just don't believe it's "better" or you are going to be horribly disappointed.

Mine aren't quite that high, but at 2.49% I'd be losing money over the next 4 years if I was to have paid cash for the Tacoma instead of keeping the money invested.

I think 23 model year will finish on the higher side because it sounds like the 4th Gen won't start production until very late this year, which will extend the production time of the 23 MY.

That is crazy, and there are a lot of factors involved and many of these overlap.

    1. High end pick ups and SUV are some of the most popular vehicles being sold.

    2. Rolling over the remaining balance owed from their trade.

    3. Nothing down or next to nothing down

    4. Paying MSRP or above

    5. Rising intrest rates.

    6. Accidents went up over the past few years which forced people into new vehicles they wouldn't have otherwised purchased during a shortage and record high pricing

    I've probably left something out.

Good point, I think it will depend on how long 3rd gen stays in production.

Not that hard to get there: 60k loan @5.5% for 60 months = $1146 payments

From what has been speculated so far it sounds like a 15 month production run instead of a.normal 12 month run.

Toyota might be the least enthusiastic about the 4th gen release, given how well the 3rd gen does for them. If the new Tundra is any comparsion some people love it, but I think more people liked the V8 more. Toyota might also want to spend more time ironing out the release of the Tacoma, and bring it to market after GM and Ford new midsize.

I wouldn't have a car payment if manufacturers still made $20,000 trucks. Those were the days.

A $20k Tacoma in 1995 is a $39k Tacoma in 2023 when adjusted for inflation.

My 2012 MSRP was around 21k-22k. Nobody makes an economoical regular cab midsize anylonger.

It would go for whatever a PRO costs, plus 11K (for the Magnuson supercharger install).

36 month finance on any truck will be above $1000 a month now with no down payment. Like someone else mentioned putting money down if you can get a low interest rate makes no sense.

Given average age of Tacoma buyer is in the low 50s, those customers presumably at their stage of life have established careers and a $1000 a month likely isn't the same to them as to someone in their early 20s for example.

I have the cash to pay for my financed $45k truck immediately. But I would rather spend a few months at least on payments until I find cause to lose so much saved/invested cash. Financing was a carefully considered decision, not a desperate need to have a pricey toy at any cost.

I probably would have purchased an SR instead and just added a few things that were required, but from what I can see SR in doublecab and 4x4 is lower priority than TRD OR doublecab 4x4 ... simple availability.
