I know everyone here shits on non Toyota brands usually. However initial conversion rate of the manual option on Bronco was ridiculously high. My memory wants to say over 15% but honestly can’t recall the exact number.

No. Wife’s GX460 did, my ES350 did not.

Even if the lower 5% figure is correct, they are selling more MT Tacomas than all Sequoias. It has to be easier to alter a design for the different transmission than to design an entire vehicle.

If they offered the 2.5 L as a hybrid only in most trims, there could be room in the lineup to have the 2.4 L turbo with a choice of MT or AT in the Off Road, (and maybe a hybrid 2.4 turbo in the Pro) and still achieve fleet and model targets for emissions and fuel economy.

I may be overly optimistic, but there might be hope for three-pedal fans still.

I see a lot of bashing here on the pretense that the 4th gen will have an I4 turbo. I will say this: If it's the 8AR-FTS version it would be a welcome change in power delivery. The latest version in the 2023 Highlander is making 310 pounds of torque @ 1700 rpm! Considering that's more than the current 2GR, at 3000 rpm lower, I would love to have this engine in my truck. I worked on a 2021 Lexus NX300 last week (not rated as much hp/tq as the Highlander) and considering the velvety smoothness and outstanding power delivery, we should welcome this engine with open arms (or at least I would).
My only concern would be tuning these engines. It has a full open deck block design and if the center cylinders are siamese'd (as in Fords Ecoboost) it might cause head gasket issues under very high boost tuning.
Lastly, let's face the fact that Toyota makes some of the most reliable I4's in the world.

I'm with you on this, but I wouldn't go for a 1st year 4th gen.

Toyota also never made the TRD OR Access Cab 6MT available in the US. I remember in 2016-2017 there was a fleet only option for an SR DCSB 6MT.

All depends how you drive and where you drive. I had a ZR2 diesel that I would average 27. There’s an article where some guys did a trip in the new Colorado and the lie-o-meter returned 26.5. I’ve got as high as 23 in my Tacoma but average just under 19. Also keep in mind all Canyons come with a factory 2” lift so if a Canyon returns 23 a Tacoma with a 2” lift will probably be around 15-16.

I thought the Colorado was supposed to have better mpg than that. Maybe people will get better real world mpg. I know the Frontier gets mid to high 20’s real world. Meanwhile Toyotas seem to get less mpg than advertised.

Frontier is on par if not worse than the Tacoma. Neighbor has one. Loves the truck hates the mpg. Motor seems more refined and smoother than my Tacoma. I still wouldn't trade though.

He must drive with a heavy foot. I’ve had a Frontier a couple times as a rental and got 25+ mpg. Driving the same way in my Tacoma and 4Runner gets 17 and 19 if lucky.

His is new but near 100% local driving. I owned a 2013 Frontier, great motor, fast, good towing but couldn't get more than 14 mpg around town. Maybe 20 mpg on a trip from NY to Fla. Is the new one supposed to be that much better. He complains about it constantly. I can get 15mpg around town 21mpg hwy in my Tacoma.

I’m referring to the new one. There is a YouTube video I watched awhile ago and the guy got I think 27 mpg with a pro4x

While I don't disagree one could get mid 20's MPG if the conditions were right, I'm not seeing anything to write home about in real world useage.

Lexus makes the ugliest cars and trucks known to mankind. No thanks. Hot garbage. :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

It's a bad angle in that photo the one I saw on the road looked better and it was that krusty krab color. Admittedly Lexus styling is a bit much. I'd take a 23 GX460 in Nori Green pearl with black line package, ugly face and all.
