Did raising your pro suspension 1” have anything to do with the 285 tires or were you trying to achieve a different objective?

I dont doubt anyones success in mounting x tire on a 2019 pro

i put the standard upgrade 265/75/16 duratrac on and man at full lock it looks tight.

happy with my choice, no rub, looks good. Cant imagine a larger tire.

Nothing at all. I’m all stock and they fit fine. After I got em installed I got an alignment and that was it.

Which tire did you go with for your 285s on your TRD Pro?

Love the look of your truck. I like K02s. I’m probably going with Cooper ST Maxx in 285s because of how quiet they are on the road. I use Bluetooth phone on CarPlay a lot for work calls while I’m driving.

I just wanted to level off the truck, that's why I did this, It had nothing to do with the tires..It was just the front that I raised..The tires that are on there from the factory just look wrong and out of place !! I know some people say on this forum that there pro rubs on tight turns but it is only 2 or 3 that say this. Most other PRO owners have no problem like me..If you are worried. Buy one tire from a local tire shop and tell them you want to try one tire to see if it will rub on the front. If not, you will be back for the other 3. IF by chance it rubs ask the tire shop will they have a problem returning this tire. [don't drive on it] just check this sitting. Most tire co's will do this or may even do it at there shop.. I am lucky I am a mechanic and have access to tire machines lol..Hope this helps and good luck.

I gots me a '23 Pro & wants some 285/75 16's. It comes with the additional 1.5" /1" lift, the snazzy red UCA's & the Fox shox. This otter work, huh?

My understanding you will need a hub spacer because the 285s rub the upper control arms on the 22 and 23s, I think I saw where Westscotts did the spacer on the front. I think it looks off because they didn't do the spacers in the rear.

I love re reading this thread with guys saying they don’t rub, only to look up their post history years later and their mud flaps got ripped off, they did a CMC, hammered pinch welds, used heat guns to mold the fender liner.

Too funny. Also hilarious people think they can fit larger tires with a lift.

Gracia! Would you know if that includes those with the billet milled red UCA's? If so, would a bit more negative offset on some new 17's do the trick?

    Thanks

Why isn’t anyone talking about about tire weight? My 285s weigh 58lbs each.

I know I am digging up an older thread.
However, since this thread helped me in my decision, I figured that I would post my experience to it as well to possibly help another TRD Pro Tacoma owner that reads through it.

To set a baseline, my 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro was 100% stock. This truck is my daily driver and spends 90% on pavement, 10% on gravel forest service roads in the Cascade mountains.
Note that the 90% pavement time is all seasons with 40% of that on snowy mountain paved/plowed roads.
I needed new tires so I started researching what might be a good fit for me, hence this thread. Thank you to all who have contributed so far.

My personal decision was to go with some Mazama Open Range A/T 285/75/R16s on the stock 2019 16" TRD Pro rims. No other modifications from stock yet.
My conclusion is that most everyone on this thread was actually correct.... :) They do fit. AND they will rub on plastic if you drive on anything other than straight pavement.

Sitting in my driveway, the rear tires are free and clear and will probably never touch the truck with any compression the land may throw at it.
The front tires have plenty of clearance when straight, but any compression at two specific turned angles will certainly touch plastic at both forward and back points of the tire in that front wheel well.
Now the front touch points are exactly what I expected and easily remediated with a heat gun and some pressure, as many have suggested.

Without any mods, here is my truck with 285/75/R16s on the rear left wheel:
    Forward:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-4-57.jpg
    Back:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-5-40.jpg
Plenty of clearance on the rear, even with full compression.

Here is the Front Left wheel, straight and still:
    Forward:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-6-40.jpg

    Back:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-7-24.jpg

    All good so far...

Here is the Front Left wheel turned right 60%:
    Back:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-9-3.jpg
Maybe 1mm of clearance. but with any compression, it will rub on the mud flap at this turn angle.

Front Left Wheel turned right 40%:
    forward:
    upload_2025-5-6_21-13-53.jpg
Maybe 3mm of clearance but with any compression it will rub here as well.

    My conclusion...
So far I am very happy with the 285/75s, as the look definitely compliments the truck and the traction is improved overall from stock tires. I will be heating up and applying pressure on those 4 points in the front plastic wheel wells to remediate the rubbing, but don't expect to have to do much more than that to run these for 50k + miles:). And I don't really care about the gas mileage, or speedometer being off a bit.

Perhaps this will help others in deciding for themselves as well.
