One time I told my wife I was buying some new wheels. She sure was surprised when I came home in a new Jeep.

Search the forums dude. This is a know issue with a simply fix. You need to chamfer the rear hum with a grind wheel. Takes like 3 minutes. And no, won't cause a vibration. But yes, the aftermarket look alikes are better - you can get them at ZERO offset and they are slightly wider.

That would be cool. I could probably find them myself if you know who makes them.

You might have heard of them, they are made by a small little company called Toyota.

I have to partly agree with Sungod on this one... When I read the title of this thread, I thought OP was having an issue with the tire bead area. Slang is only useful when context is given; only after reading the OP, is it conveyed what the actual problem is.

I say "partly" because, what Sungod has referred to as the "rim", is better described as the inner and outer flange. The rim is the interior surface of the flanges the tire bead bears against when mounted and inflated.

If the title had been "TRD wheel will not seat fully on hub", it would have made it clear and a good searchable title for other members.

Yeah, I'm kind of anal about these things...sue me. :duh:

OMG! You had to read the first post and not just the title? What type of insane asylum are we living in?

Silly splitbolt, nobody is using the search function. If they had, they'd be aware of this problem and the solution.

It depends on the context of the use of the word rim. You are using it correctly in your description, but as we know about words, they can be used differently when used as a noun or adjective by definition. As I used it a noun to the name of a part used in an assembly that when combined it is known as a wheel. With most wheels they are single piece that you cannot separate the individual components. That doesn't mean they don't exist. They are just a solid piece. However, you can still get 2 and 3 peice wheels. Mostly they are used in off road and specialty cases. In any case, this is exactly the part that is knows as a rim -

You will hear this part also sometimes referred to as a barrel or in 3 piece wheel a lip. Those are still acceptable and not considered slang.

Interestingly you will never hear a split rim referred to as a split wheel. It just doesn't make sense because it doesn't correctly describe the parts.

No question it is slang. Straight out of the flatbillers mouth. Undoubtedly started by ignorance. Really not a lot different than walking into a gun store and saying you want to buy a gat or a jammie.

Yeah, but you're coming way out of left field bringing that into a Tacoma forum; way out of context.
    Here's today's word-of-the-day; "pugnacious".

Not really sure what you are talking about. You seem to have taken what I stated and interjected confusion. In the context of what I stated, it was pretty clear. Using the word "Rim" to describe a wheel is flat-biller slang derived from ignorance.
