Silverton is one of my favorites. Love that all the streets are dirt except for the main drag thru town

 

Granted, I'm a mechanic with a capital K...I know it's an emissions thing to send em back through but I thought oil getting into the air intake was a sign the valve was failing creating pressure likely causing seals to leak (valve covers are definitely leaking and rear main)

Most threads I'm seeing about it say to start with replacing the pcv, seems stupid easy to do so I'll just do it for good measure. It's not a lot of oil, just a thin film but if it helps with my other leaks that will be a plus.

 

I ordered PrimeWeld's new MIG285 multiprocessor and it's supposed to go up against the heavy weight variants IE Lincoln MP210 and Miller 215.

I was about to pull the trigger on a Miller 215 mainly because of my experience with them, but there are many threads and tons of talk about the need for repairs and/or motherboards needing replacement with parts being backlogged for months.

At half the price, and a step up in power (compared to my MIG180 I have currently) I'll need to find a new place for the old welder...or just sell it.

The Miller 130XP is my dual-shield setup.

 

Catch can goes against a smog inspection, but you won't need one for another 2 years so you're good to use one.

 

@eon_blue hasn't rained all day today until now, and it's not really heavy.

I don't see how that could be true, but I'm no expert..
Crankcase pressure up -> PCV ball moves -> oil mist into intake
vs
Crankcase pressure up -> PCV ball doesn't move -> oil past piston seals & other bad things

Path to that tube is much closer from the PCV valve than traveling all the way up the intake runners...
Unless you're thinking the ball is releasing once pressure builds up significantly..? Then I could see that becoming an issue.

 

I lived Stony Pass near Silverton. It was a pretty mild trail, but so scenic! Crossing the Rio Grande was amazing too.

 

Take off the oil cap while it's running and see if there's excessive crank case pressure

Haha thanks. It was for a class called Audio for Video, learned how to master audio in ProTools.

We were supposed to take a video, strip the audio, and recreate it from scratch. That's what I came up with.

 

Which ones west of you? I need to start learning about em so the missus and I can plan trips. If you're willing to drive 4+ hrs I'll be your wheeling buddy
