Think some are more sensitive (hearing) to it then others. Some diff' maybe louder then others. My 2nd gen was louder then this 3rd gen. There's tons of threads on this way back to 2005.

These are noisy trucks. Rear diff howl has been around in both the 2 & 3rd gen's. These trucks are not for everyone. Lots of good info in this CCN video here. I think if you went to the dealer you most likely will be wasting your time. If you happen to be taking it there for a oil change then maybe mention it then. However, they most likely will just say it's normal.

Mine has slight howl, I can barely hear. In my mind; the dealer playing swap-a-part wouldn’t help and I’d rather have an unmolested rear assembly from the factory.

Wasting your time. They will tell you it’s “normal charasteristics”.

Same reason why some tacoma's perform better than others.

I'd say it's probably a waste of time. I posted about this a few years ago when I noticed it on my 2020. The dealership couldn't really reproduce the sound and basically said there wasn't anything they could do. Since then I've realized quite a few people have the exact same sound when letting up on the throttle at around those speeds.

I'm at 19,000 miles now and and it still makes the sound. It hasn't gotten any worse and sounds exactly the same as it did back then. I'm not too worried about it. Though, I still hear it every time I drive.

When I read these threads I’m glad I lost 50% of my hearing so I can’t hear all the things going wrong with my truck. I guess I will just keep driving it until it falls apart below me:notsure:
