I wonder how many people keep a "doesnt matter" set of tires to pop up front for this very reason

Installed the intake plenums and a little engine bay cleaning. Kinda matches the air intake pretty well which I didn’t even think about till now. My old ones will be for sale I guess so keep an eye out in the BST for them soon. Maybe I’ll paint those too..

Turned out really well. Really have me torn keeping the factory cast look or switching to this black wrinkle finish.

I thought about that too. Good prep, elbow grease and patience you can really make them look brand new.

This looks really sharp! I am right at the stage of deciding what to do with my valve covers and plenums (I have the top end of the motor tron apart). I was all set on having them powder coated, but now I'm thinking that maybe rattle canning them will be (almost) just as good, and certainly less hassle.

Finished well overdue maintenance. When we talk about “original”, I’m pretty sure some of the fluids and the spark plugs were original from when this truck was built. Runs great, still needs a few tweaks.

Ya that’s another reason I used the wrinkle finish. Less prep. No primer, no clear coat. Just just clean the surface and spray. You don’t really even have to scuff the surface cus it’s already porous. The scuffing happened when I was cleaning it anyways.

World's smallest project for the 1Gen.
I wanted to drop the spare wheel and struggled to push the 3-part factory tool through the rear opening to engage the winch that hold the wheel up to the frame. The joint between the first and the middle part is so thick it wouldn't fit in the small hole under the tail gate / over the bumper. So I cut off the thick connection (the female part) and welded the pieces together. Now I can easily reach the spare wheel's winch.

Changed my valve cover and throttle body gaskets, replaced the half moon seals, and the cam bolts. First time doing it, so took much longer than I thought. Ripped the knock sensor apart so stripped it down and added the tail light harness off my buddies Ducati.

Some before and after pics of the valve covers themselves as well as the broken knock sensor wire and the Ducati fix.

    Was a good weekend.
