Gotcha. I'd be more concerned about the corrosion if I lived in a salted road area of the country. I'm going in with my eyes open about ride, steering issues, etc. But we'll see! Thanks!

Sorry to see you go - but change is a part of life.

Good luck with the Jeep - I get the harder wheeling desire. I had that for years. Our focus changes over time. I'm sure you'll be back in a Tacoma sometime down the road! :D

I have enjoyed watching your camper build - though not envious of all that sanding you did.

Keep a thread going on TW - I'm curious as to the mods you have planned for the Jeep.

The sanding was brutal. That being said, I do have a trailer build floating around in my head.

Did not see that coming at all.

Get an Ursa Minor pop top for it though!

No pop ups for me. I don't like dealing with wet canvas that I have to dry out. It's a real pain up here where it's wet for months on end...and I don't have a garage tall enough to open it fully inside. Plus, my plan is to keep it simple and focus on harder trails. That being said, I love the idea of the ursa minor, just not sure it's necessary for me.

There are a lot of really cool products and options but sometimes the best one is just pulling a few seats. One of my most memorable ski trips was a month traveling in a Cortina GT with the passenger and rear bench seats removed in favor of a chaise lounge pad and a couple down sleeping bags.

Well, it's all official: Truck and camper have both been delivered to their new owners. My good friend bought the truck a while back but let me keep driving it until my jeep arrived. Which it idd last week. I mounted the camper up to the new owners truck tonight and sent it on down the road on new adventures.

A peek at the Jeep. 2023 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. So far it's pretty cool. WAY different experience than the Tacoma. I was so used to that truck...it was home. I'll get used to this too over time.

Camper loaded up on the new owners truck and heading south. He was super excited about it and that's all I really wanted.

Thanks for hanging around on this thread with me. Figured you might want to see the very end of my road with this camper project.

    Take it easy!

I could. Not sure you'd want a jeep hanging around. Haha.

I got the 48v mild hybrid V6 with the auto transmission and full time transfer case. In the Rubicon, the 48v mild hybrid is your V6 option with the auto trans. The full time transfer case is pretty cool because you still have 2h and 4h, 4lo but you also have auto 4h which is a clutch pack that engage the front wheels as the vehicle senses slip. From what I could find, it seems like a durable t case and it's nice to be able to put it in 4auto on the patchy snow, wet, ice, dry (all within 5 miles) road conditions we have here in the PNW.

We just bought an unlimited a few weeks back, fairly pleased with it. We opted for the 2.0l turbocharged engine and 850re 8speed transmission.

Ours is used and it cut the price in half but also lost out on some of the options I would have preferred.

Do it... I'm a sucker for watching people build their own stuff. Although it does take away from me building my own stuff...T2 small.jpg

Go over to jeeps.net the sister site, a lot less people than TacomaWorld but the forum platform is the same so you don’t have the adds between the posts. Which to me is the most annoying part with other forums.

Watching people struggle through a build can easily be more rewarding than struggling through you own!

Great tip! I did notice the ads on other forums and was wondering why they decided to be way less cool than Tacomaworld.

The 2.0 is intriguing. The 8 speed auto is great. Loving that part.

There has definitely been some colorful language with my build. Welded on the fenders, then realized that I welded too soon and had to cut a small section out. Then ran out of acetylene halfway through the cutting and now it's Sunday and the gas shop is closed... So now it's comfy chair and coffee, I'm not sure my neighbors would appreciate a cut off wheel before noon on the Sunday following clock night.

Sounds about right. My rule is 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday for making noise. But I use my really loud tools (angle grinder mostly) in the garage so it's a bit different. Good for you for being a decent neighbor.
