I'm down for what ever adventure between now and Wednesday.

I'd just like to request we don't have to call in for a rescue... That's our 1 and only goal

We always bring multiple chase trucks with all the recovery gear and endless spare parts. Also all the 2wd trucks have 700+ HP and 40” tires so we will see how they do in the deep snow!

Nothing like endless HP to get you more stuck in the wet snowy mess.

We do this trip every year and always end up in some snow… seems like this year is going to be no different

While trying to learn about the incident, I did learn that "Trfc Collision-1141" means ambulance requested. Not good.

Not to make light of this DV accident, I hope it turns out OK. CalTrans’ fairly recent road conditions map app, QuickMap, often includes lengthy detail on traffic incidents that can make for amusing reading. During the big storms there was some interesting back and forth between CHP, CalTrans, and local agencies. Here’s one I just found at random, on I10 near Desert Center (read from bottom up, CD is center divider)

Throwing beer bottles 100 yards is pretty impressive.

There are a couple of groups in the park this weekend (that I know of). It’s the DV “season” for the big bikes and plated enduros folks. It used to be small groups would go but these days, profiteers seem to be there every week and while there is nothing like running the desert, I’m really not impressed by large groups these days and for many reasons.

Clear skies and heating up quick at the Pinnacles. Ran into one of the 10-truck groups on the way in last night, complete with the elusive Honda Ridgeline guy taking up the rear.

I guess it’s lucky they plowed it before the rockslides. Though I suppose they just use a dozer, going slow, so it might have been able to clear them away easily. I know it wouldn’t be good to hit those with a blower or even a push plow.
