I have a 1st gen taco w/ manual locking hubs and am wanting to start piecing together a full set of spare black steelies to run (16x7 commonly found on most Toyota trucks)

does anyone know if any Toyota spare wheel will fit over the manual hubs? Is there a specific bore size I should be looking for?

    TIA

Does your spare fit? Or is it not the size you are looking for?

All Toyota pickups and 6x5.5 lug trucks / SUV’s have the same hub size. The steelies were sold on trucks with both ADD and manual hubs. I had a set of 17” FJ spare steelies once when I bought my truck with them and manual hubs which are probably easier to find.

I actually haven’t checked but I guess I should, didn’t even consider this. I was planning on keeping my spare as a spare and getting 4 new wheels

Really? I’ve read recently about guys trying to fit newer style wheels over manual hubs and having to machine the bore. And I didn’t have any luck finding 17” wheels, but I am planning on running a 235/85/r16 tire anyway

It should fit of course. But good to verify as well. You can also check markings for size confirmation.

If you want 4 more of the same, take a picture and post on CL, FB, as a WTB, call local salvage yards etc. Odds are you'll only get one at a time anyway, so it will be a collection game.

If not doing a 5 tire rotation, you can put one of your wheels currently on the ground as your spare, then you only have to get 3 more.

I did 'spare wheels' too, but added trim rings for an old school look.

I bet you were reading about aluminum wheels with clip-on hub caps that used a smaller ID on the outer rim of the hub bore such as SCS. Steel wheels by definition are typically pressed steel that fits flush against the hub / brake rotor surface which has a larger bore than the locking hub so that the wheels make it to the mating surface. They are not a cast / machined piece with advanced manufacturing that gives mulitple steps on the hub bore like some of the aftermarket wheels like SCS that need to be hole-sawed or machined out to clear the locking hub.

Here are the same wheels I had when I bought the truck for $84 per wheel.
