Anyone in Socal mechanically experience on 2 stroke dirtbikes?

Need a topend install. Dealer is charging me 200-300 (they so stupid) just for labor, willing to drive and willing to pay with cash or beer... .

I bought the cr125 for 300, so im going to sell my kx250f , then fix the cr125 and still have 1700+ for school

Luckily, I got my CRF450R paid off before i started college... It's an '08, and I want a newer one sooo bad. But I know that's just not a good idea right now. haha.

 

yeah.. the 4 strokes are so smooth... keystone smooth

They're definitely smooth. But keystone? BARF.... Not my favorite.

Ya i know, Just rode my 250f and it felt so good.. Maybe to good cause im still sore, i hadn't used it in a while

 

I know that feeling, i only get to ride mine a couple of times every few months. Im thinkin about looking for a 250 to turn into a freestyle bike, but havent decided yet.

Just Piston and rings? and hone cylinder? I could help you with that...Kind of a far drive for you though.

 

I suggest doing it yourself. I did my first 2 stroke top end last year on an 02 RM250 and was amazed at how actually easy it is. get the shop manual for the bike you can even download it offline as a PDF file. I would also suggest if you are tight on cash skip replacing the piston if there arent marks on it and just replace the rings, gaskets and sparkplugs.

Drinking a beer it can be done in 2 hours someone who knows there way around could prob have it done in less than an hour. Makes me understand my bike better and it saves you alot of money in the process!

Oh and drain all of the fluids in the bike too, dont make the mistake i did and forget to drain the coolant, as soon as you pull the cylinder itll all drain into the crank case and you dont want that to happen lol.

Anyways goodluck Id help you out but im overseas right now. Just read the manual step by step and you wont have an issue.

The piston has a small scratch, might as well put a fresh one in it

 

Just rebuilt my entire '04 RM from the crank up. Piston's easy. If it's not a gall scratch in the piston you can probably still use it, but replace the rings. It's the bore I'm worried about. It can get expensive too. Why'd it come apart?
