They will for the 2024 models. :p
Either hybrid or turbo or both. They will likely dump the V6.

I use ECT all the time when driving rural roads and in town around 35-45 mph. It absolutely improves response by holding the gears longer before shifting, thus better acceleration for a given gas pedal position. Try it with and without when you test drive and you’ll feel the difference.

It may be the slowest new car currently sold in North America?

No idea that car even existed. But looks like they both do 0-60 in the high tens. With maybe a slight edge to the mirage.

I'm sure they will, but it would have significantly more power compared to now.

That’s good. But your V6 will still be an extinct dinosaur and at least no one will be left to slam 4 cylinders in a 4th gen thread

Seems like a lot of folks don’t know what “slow” means.

I had a 1990 mazda b2200 with about 90hp on a good day. Uphills? Ha!

For what it's worth I've been driving my 22 limited since Aug all over SW Montana and aside from a few select circumstances where I really did need to punch it I've had no real complaints about how fast the truck gets up to speed.
If anything, the only thing I wish that the Truck did differently would be for the cruise control to move in 5mpg steps like our Subaru Outback does.

I don't have the Traffic some of ya'll might have in more congested areas, so I don't need to be going from 0-70 real quick most of the time.
I like to think the tradeoff here is my average fuel consumption is better.

I had a b2400 for a spell. I bought as a non runner from an old man. It had been sitting for years. I gave him $50, he gave me the ownership. I slid underneath and noticed the ground wire for the starter had rotted off the frame. I sanded the area to clean metal and screwed it back on. I gave it the old “spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch” routine. I put the key in the ignition and it started right up! It needed a clutch, as well

We had an old beat up one with the 4 cylinder diesel when I was a teenager. Super slow and if you sat in the middle you had to be careful because the shifter vibrated so much it would smash the shit out of your knees.

Needed a clutch. I think I got $300 for it. A guy came from Michigan and towed it home. I’ve got a pic of it leaving, somewhere

I bought a 2022 SR 2.7L 4x4 Access Cab last October and have put 5000 miles on it. I wanted a V6 but they had this truck on the lot and it checked off all my boxes, except for the engine. Honestly it does well for how little horsepower it has and how much it weighs. ECT does help but it uses more gas running at high RPMs. It's been totally reliable so far and I see it being that way for years to come. Four cylinder Toyota trucks are what forged Toyota's reliability reputation and my Tacoma really reminds me of those classic trucks. Unfortunately I spend a lot of time in the mountains and on highways. While the 2.7 gets me where I want to go, it does it slowly and revving more than I'd like. So last month I ordered an identical truck with the 3.5L V6. It has been a great truck but I'm looking forward to having more power again. So, my advice would be to make sure it will fit your needs before committing. If not, try to hold out and buy a V6 Tacoma.

No complaints here either. I have the manual transmission, and it does just fine. Regarding the Subaru 5 mph cruise control steps, I'm not a fan. I don't drive it enough, and I've accidentally forced it to downshift a couple of times by taping the deceleration button 3 or so times for 3 mph not the 15 mph it gave me!

Someone is going to get a great truck in that 2.7. Good luck!

I just like the 5mpg steps as it's quicker to swap from something like 55->70 than it is to press the 15 times it takes with 1mpg steps.
