Hi all, like many I've been pouring over wiring diagrams, youtube, and tacomaworld for answers on installing new speakers, amp, sub, and headunit into my 2016 Taco while swapping my JBL stock system out. I ordered all my stuff from Crutchfield with their recommended adapters. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I need helping moving from here, after uninstalling the stock jbl sub/amp my heart dropped at the sh*tshow of a speaker wiring harness that plugged into the stock amp. My plan was/is to mount my new Kicker amp and kicker hideaway 10" either under one of the front seats or place in the old jbl/sub amp spot behind the passenger rear on a board.

    1. Can anyone recommend a wiring harness to convert the old amp speaker wire
plug-ins into seperate wiring to plug into the amp? Is this possible? Or do I need to put on my big boy pants and get to splicing?

    2. Would it be easier and or worthwhile to just run all new speaker wiring?

    3. Is there an easier option to use existing speaker wiring and route to under the front seats or should I just place where the old amp/subs were?

    4. How do I connect my amp to my Sony AX6000/ maestro? Is it via RCA's?

    5. I'm prepared to run my amp power to the battery through the firewall grommet but where is a good spot to ground?

    - I have installed my Sony AX6000 head unit paired to the Maestro adapter to the existing factory wiring and the head unit is functioning.

    - I've removed all my panels and installed the new speakers/tweeters and adapters to the existing factory speaker wiring. (Also sound deadened my doors).

Don’t cut/splice anything. The JBL setup is pretty intimidating to work with without DETAILED instructions. My recommendation, run your own speaker wire from your chosen amp location. From there go to the 4 doors. And, it will be easier to tap into a signal for the sub if you use the speaker signal right off the Sony.

Ok, I was wondering if that was the practical way to do it. So from the Head unit should I use the 9 wire setup from crutchfield as recommended by Taco23trl? Then run individual speaker wires to each door? Was also wondering with the front door component tweater/woofer setup should those be connected together?

Wouldn’t worry about the “speed wire”. Get some regular speaker wire, and a set of 4-channel RCAs in the correct length for you.

From the Sony, run the RCAs to the amp. From the amp, run the speaker wire to each location.
From the Sony front speaker level outs on the main harness, run speaker wire to the subwoofer input.
Use 8ga power and ground for the sub and amp, that’s 2 separate runs to the battery, or use a distribution block and 4ga from the battery.
The tweeters should be connected to terminals on the back of the woofer for the front doors.
