Hah, I was in the same boat when I bought mine. Had the thought, "OK, did I really just pay that much for a cell phone mount?". But it was well worth it in my opinion, fits my needs perfectly.

Installed new pads, rotors, shoes, drums, and hardware with my boss’s help yesterday. Also ordered new drum cylinders, but the stock ones seemed fine. I’m glad I did it all myself and saved $600 vs the shop, but I swear I’ll never deal with drum shoes ever again. Wish I had more pictures but my phone died during the install :/

This weekend I finally got to install my new suspension. Went from Nitrochargers and Dakar HD pack to Fox 2.0 and Deaver Stage 3. Still waiting on my front lower shock bolts and new misalignment spacers for the front that should be here today and I'll throw the front 2.5s in tonight.
    Went from this...
    To this!!

Breaks are a B. I always pay a certified shop to do it.

ive made a ton of money off shops and brakes, ive always assessed the car first, made them pay for parts and usually half the cost the shop quoted. made me plenty but agreed about drum brakes being a pain, though ive got the tools might as well use them

Disc brakes are a 30 minute, or less, cake job. Drums suck but still maybe an hour job. I always did family brakes when I was a kid. In the past 50 years never paid for a brake job. To me the worst part of drums is loosening and re-adjusting with those star adjustors. Never understood why they didn't improve that with something like an allen head adjustor screw. Back then the 1st rule of drum brakes is remove both wheels and only do 1 side at a time so you have the other side for a reference. I guess now snapping a before picture on the phone is just as good. When I was young most cars had front and rear drums so I learned how to curse at a young age. Fords have used rear disc for years. Wish Toyota would get away from rear drums. They do last for a very long time though. I guess that is why drums are more of a pain since they usually have so many years on them when you change them.

my sister purchased an old station wagon, saw the rear drums and looked at me in horror. then asked what we do now? I laughed and showed her how to do drums. then instantly pulled a tire off my winter beater and showed her the parking brake under the disc.

Finally got new wheels on my truck, been tired of the Rockstars since they were on the truck when I bought them. Originally silver and for some reason the previous owner bought them like that. Changed them to black to help me forget about them but finally switched them out with something a little more modern (2017 TRD Sport Wheels). Then added the Harbor Freight Apache 9800 rifle case and some struts for some rooftop storage on things I don't use too often but like to keep in the truck (Tow strap and shackles, tire inflator and plug kit, and basic wrench and sockets).

very nice! i like that case but also dont want to put one ontop of my truck yet though i have my traction boards up there.

Ironman4x4 mounts hold my inexpensive traction boards. though that think a 1/4 in pin and a cheap lock because despite the fact they aren't expensive I could see some crack head taking them off my truck

That is exactly what happened with me. Front brakes took less than an hour combined and then I spent like 3-4 on the rear. Next time I have to do the rears I might just bite the bullet and go with the rear disc conversion.

Anyone with FOX 2.5s I need help. I finally got my misalignment spacers and that's going to be a tight fit on the bottom end but I think I can make it work but then I just noticed the top will NOT fit into the tower. Are these top mounting hats on upside down? I did buy them used... 20230313_163112.jpg

I never used fox but that top clamp assembly, with the long bolt through it, certainly won't fit through the tower hole. Are you sure they were on a Tacoma. I am not familiar with these at all.

I am not sure if they were. (they should have been bought them off here) I was worried when I saw it but I am pretty sure they are just on upside down.

Look at this Tacoma fox install video at the 10:37 mark. Completely different on top.
