In Monterey for a conference. Our hotel is in the red zone. Not expecting power restoration for a few days. After the Tahoe blizzard and getting stuck an extra day last weekend, we get this, this weekend. There was some crap that happened in Tahoe that I didn't mention and want to forget. Then we get this.

We were on the peninsula (top point of red area) when fallen trees blocked the only 2 public roads to get out of that area. We were essentially trapped. There's a military base and a private community that runs roughly along the border of the red and yellow. Finally ran the gate at Pebble Beach (private, gated community) and found a way out after 90 minutes of searching (lot of roads in PB were closed for fallen trees). Back to hotel at 4:30 am and with no power, can't use my cpap. So check out, found a hotel in Marina. Checked jn and got to bed around 6am. So tired.

A friend of mine used to buy insurance wrecks. Quite often he would literally cut a car in half, and weld the other half of another same model car onto it, and then resell them. And this was for cars like Camrys and civics. There is no doubt there are people out there willing to do similar for a Ferrari.

California is a war zone. I've been watching the news; epic snowfall, flooding rains, raging rivers, dams releasing water for the first time in years, power outages everywhere, man, what a mess.

    native earthling

It's been the 5th wettest year since they started keeping records in my neck of the woods. There still snow on the ground, which never happens in March. And the long range forecast is for more of the same. That means we'll go from winter to summer in a day and all the snow in the mountains will melt all at once. Which means of course everyone will be all shocked Pikachu when the flooding starts.

    • A special breed of hybrid super pigs from Canada have started to travel south into the northern United States.
    • The pigs pose a threat to native wildlife and may prove tough to eradicate.
    • The spread of the pigs has only increased in recent years.
A hybrid breed of super pigs—a mix of a domestic pig and a wild boar—is running wild in Canada. And now they have their sights set on the United States.

Originally crossbred to help farmed pigs grow larger and tolerate the cold temperatures of Canada, a drop in the market about two decades ago led some farmers to let their hybrid pigs run free. Now they’re running very free, according to Field and Stream. The super pigs are coming south, likely heading to Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan.

The problem? The super pigs are proving hard to eradicate.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'm going to call bullshit on this since a domestic pig will revert to being feral within a few months. They will grow thick hair, tusks, and become more aggressive. They are the literally the same animal just "dressed" differently.
