Nothing wrong with pink. Pink stands for saving the boobies. I love saving the boobies.

I stumbled into Daytona Bike Week one year by accident.
I drove just past Laconia one year, didn't realize it until I'd gotten home & looked to see what all the traffic had been about.
Seems i have a habit of stumbling upon them.
& I donated my hot rod to the Saab Museum which happens to be in Sturgis. Rumor is there's a bunch of bike stuff out there too.

So I noticed that my tires are rubbing on the bolt where the limiting strap attaches Dirt King lowers. Was surprised, and pulled some numbers on clearance for these wheels and tires compared to stocks, and learned that I have a little over an inch and a half more clearance from the inside of the tire to the frame/suspension compared to the stock setup. Can’t believe there has been no one with stock wheels and tires that has encountered this- couldn’t find anything on tw or other places online where someone has had a similar issue. Thanks to Jared @crashngiggles , I have a game plan in the interim, as well as for the long term- when it comes time for the step up to 285/75-16s. Also got the ball rolling on cmc and hope to have that done by the end of spring.

Still have yet to figure out whats ultimately wrong with big red, but at least I will be able to get it started to plow with- battery is disconnected so it doesn’t drain when I am not using it.

Oh, and been working on this.

It is my late grandmother’s Husqvarna sewing machine, that my mom gave to me when I helped her move. Its been sitting in my basement gathering dust in my basement the past two years, and supposedly sat dormant for over 20 years before that.

My dog Dakota went in for surgery a couple weeks ago. He was wearing a thundershirt and a cone during his recovery, and well, we felt bad about the cone, and got lenient and took it off. The little shit licked and chewed a hole in his thundershirt, so I took out the sewing machine in hopes to patch it up since our vet couldn’t get us another/ and Amazon was over a week out for this thing. Pulled out the sewing machine, and it was seized up after years of not moving.

Brought it to a a local repairman with a good reputation, and after three weeks, he couldn’t get it to budge. Brought it home, extremely disappointed, mainly because of the sentimental value. I did a little research and found that some penetrating oil on the bearings and pivot points, as well as some mild heat from a hair dryer could help free it up. Hit the pivot points and bearings with some pb, let it soak for a bit, and got it to budge. Let it sit with the oil for a couple days, hitting those pivots and bearings with a little more oil here and there- still tight as hell. Break out the wifes hair dryer, got everything really warm, and it seems to have done the trick to free it. Going to work on it a couple more days with heat and penetrating oil, but I think I saved this thing.

I'm in southern Orange County, NY and there was a solid 4 inches on the ground already. I wish this would have come 6 weeks ago when it would have stuck around for a while and we could have actually enjoyed it.

    Morning everyone.

    Happy Tuesday.

Snow coming down now. Didn't really start until this morning. I put my dog out at around 4:30am, and it was only raining then.

Gotta say I am VERY impressed with these studded Toyos on my Tacoma. I've gotta go over a mountain to get out of my town and go to work. The road was snow covered with a layer of slush underneath it and with only about 80lbs of gear in the bed I went right over in 2wd. The traction light only flashed maybe 2 or 3 times on the way up.

This thing is extremely well built; its a brick. The big thing on them that goes is the cam, and the one in this is fully intact.

Even have the marketing sheet that shows what my grandparents paid for it new in ‘76. I get a kick out of the pictures- it’s a time machine.

    D75F88A7-3058-435D-8180-FB8521E571F3.jpg

With this thing moving again, I am hoping to learn the craft. Have a couple easier projects I want to do to start off.

My son loves camping, as does my wife. Really hoping my Daughter does too. I know the tent is small for all of us in the long run, but it fits us all perfectly now. If everyone continues to enjoy it, my game plan would be to buy/build an offroad trailer, something like @Skierrichy has with the rtt up top, and at the same time build the camper-topper diy style using ripcords plans/thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-diy-wedge-camper.604686/).

The most daunting part of that project, to me, is the sewing. Luckily, my FIL picked up some industrial sewing equipment a couple years ago, and learned the skills- he did his own eisenglass and screens for his boat- they look professional.

I think it would be a fun, and meaningful project to work on with the kiddos too, since they would be a bit older.
