Well my beloved 2018 Tacoma at 95k clutch went out and I knew it was happening 10 days ago. Currently right now I limped my truck 35 min to get to the nearest dealer. They had no loaners so I’m fronting the rental for 2-3 days which I think is good for late notice . Clutch parts are coming from Florida.

although the price is insane but please let me know I’m wrong. (See attached) I did differ some stuff today cause I was stunned by the initial bill. A lot of it got done at 40k and I know it needs to be done soon.

What’s everyone everything think about this ?

what actually does all this mean on the (to do) list that I differed.some stuff is very broad ?

bottom line : see the Air filter for $50……immediately differed immediate red flag looking for opinions with this crap.

currently without a truck and paying 45 bucks a day for a rental.

I don’t have the tools nor the time or knowledge to do all this I’m active duty mil. Thanks

    No file is attached.

But not surprised the bill is large at the dealership.

Hot damn. I’m no expert, but that seems very expensive for a clutch. Shouldn’t a clutch be half that price?

Yeah I don’t know what it should be either, but that’s hefty!
I’d guess, He can probably get an aftermarket clutch and flywheel assembly installed at independent for darn near half that.
Tough call now that it needs to be towed and OP doesn’t have an extra vehicle to borrow.

Flywheel is not a throwaway item, they simply don't want to machine it.

Unless there's catastrophic damage you can always re-surface the flywheel.

We hate it because it ties the hoist up, but it saves the customer 1000$ sometimes.

I'd call some local shops and have the Taco towed to whoever gives a better price. Typically private small shops are half the price of dealers.

I couldn't imagine it being more than 4-6 hours of work at $150/hour. And then $600 or so in parts and fluids.

Typically it’s a nominal fee. But he noted not having time or experience to do the job.

This is easily up to a $1500 job- run away from that dealer, and screwing over a service person, what shts they are!

Transmission shop probably would have done it cheaper. Do your brakes yourself super easy. I work too hard for my money . I'm bitching that I just dropped $750 on a woods custom one piece driveshaft. You do you bud

Book time is approximately 6.5 hours. The disk, pressure plate, flywheel, TO bearing plus 6.5 hours labor @ $120 per is about 2100.00.

Don’t do anything from #6. I wouldn’t do anything from any of the rows except the clutch swap but that is absurd pricing for a clutch. I’d definitely be doing it myself.

complete AISIN clutch kit is around 250 dollars i know they supply subaru with their clutches. That flywheel is a money maker for them, usually a shop will do a resurface at a fraction of the price and you will be good to go.

RockAuto has the complete AISIN Kit for $236, that Dealer pricing is nuts.
