I'd be pissed if my co-workers quoted that.

Why the fork? It's not a subaru, the forks last a million miles.

Why all fasteners? The flywheel bolts are technically not re-useable, but the pressure plate bolts are.

    It's almost a "F U Quote"

    FYI.

the guy writing up the estimate gets a percentage of the parts sales...

My dealer it's based on labour, not parts.

Parts gets a kick back on overall monthly sales of course.

Insanely high ... so pretty accurate for a stealership.

I just did a clutch in my jeep, with nice parts, for $500 and a days labor.

Find an independent shop or transmission shop and it will cost closer to 2k. Resurface the flywheel.

Also, get specifics on what "service" entails. 4x4 service, last time I checked was "grease a few things and look for damage while stealing the customers money". Change your own brake pads and fluids. Get the rotors turned, they have minimum thickness limits, use them until they are gone.

Well everyone thanks to you all, I’m going to limp my truck to a solid mom and pop shop and they are going to do it for half the price. Place has awesome reviews. Lesson learned avoid the dealership at all costs

Private shop and pay 1/2 or 2/3 of this ridiculous price.

You like the mundane driving feel, gear hunting and paying 3x the cost of the clutch disk replacement for when the automatic goes out? Interesting.

good for you..have them check all seals, engine/tranny/transfer case while in there. maybe time to consider better clutch? i don't know, surprised there have been no threads, that i have seen, on replacing the clutch with a better one. just throwing that out there. let us know how it all works out.

Local shop quoted me $1778 using Aisin parts and resurfacing the flywheel so OP’s mom&pop estimate seems about right.
Turned out I needed a new flywheel due to surface cracks and that added about $150 to cost since I saved some by not having to resurface the flywheel. Insane for dealer to ask $735 for a flywheel.

PS: my 2nd Gen clutch made it to 220k miles, hope they did not change material to a shorter life in 3rd Gen.

Thats about what mine ran (I'm glad I had mechanical breakdown insurance). Whats said above is true they dont want to pull out the reworkable parts and basically replace everything.

I have a 1999 VW Diesel Beetle and it needed a clutch so I asked the dealer and they wanted $6,000!
It being front wheel drive it was more difficult, I get that but damn…
Took it to a private guy, I bought the parts and he put it in. $1,600.

that's what i am talking about and he can get it without the flywheel $469. if the mom&pop shop are going to turn the flywheel.
also might as well replace throw out bearing while in there.
either way something to look into IMO

Update: after I made this post took it from the dealer and limped it to another shop out the door I paid 1500 for the new clutch and fly wheel they were a great local business. They took the truck off the lift and it wouldn’t start they found out they had cut a wire they didn’t say what they they replaced I need to ask. 2 weeks later the truck would lag cut power and re gain power like something was going on problem kept getting worse almost randomly lurches .Only happens above 15 mph. Truck sometimes won’t start only if I apply a small amount of gas. Shuts off during idle sometimes/ sometimes when I accelerate I get a short beep with no lights. Sitting in the shop right now that did my clutch to diagnose. Should of got a 1st gen without this electrical bull
Current dash lights : traction control off/ check engine on.

no clue what’s going on truck has 96k 2018 Trd off road in Manual transmission.
