Anyone have an inexpensive pair of 17" tires they are looking to sale? Stock or whatever. Not picky, they will be trailer tires.

I'd look for a used tire shop near you. You'll probably have better luck there.

Just an FYI and mini rant

Some people do not have the decency in them to honor their word.

When you agree to a sale and take a deposit then ghost for three days not marking the item sold as you said you would to finally reappear saying all is good and just several hours later inform the buyer the item sold local, that is not a way to conduct business. If you don’t want to work with logistics of a longer distance sale then don’t agree in the first place. At least you refunded the deposit and didn’t add thief to you character traits.

    Rant over.

If anyone has questions of who to avoid just reach out.

There's always two sides to a story (I don't know anything about the story for anyone wondering; just making the comment). I say tag them and make it known if they're a member. Considering they refunded your money, it doesn't sound like they had ill intent, although its still unfortunate if a deal went sideways for whatever reason. Tag em, lets hear their side. My best guess is someone around Knoxville since you asked about TW express a few days ago :notsure:

I have sold a lot, bought a lot. Ain’t nothing wrong with selling what you got the most painless way possible. Just be straight up!

if he had not refunded the money there would be names but I won’t go there publicly since he did.
I have to messages to back up everything I said. Glad he doesn’t have my money as I’d rather deal with someone that doesn’t what they say.

Absolutely; I can tell you the most important a buyer AND seller can do for each other is be 100% honest about every single thing. Its usually pretty easy to weed through the "scum" type buyers or sellers for me. I guess common sense sets in, but not everyone can wheel and deal if they didn't grow up meeting people face to face, shaking hands, navigating newspaper ads/craigslist, etc. Its a new age where you've gotta stalk people's FB to figure out if they're legit or some brand new account with no post history/etc.

I've sold one thing in my life where I halfway felt that I had been a bad seller/sold something out from under someone, but it was a learning experience for me to set clear expectations EVERY time. After a handful of hits on something, I agreed to hold an item for an out of state person, with intent that they'd be coming to get it in the next weekend or so. Months went by, I never took a deposit, just holding it on my word alone; every communication I had to initiate, but he held interest, just always had an excuse. Eventually, I had another hit from someone else out of state who was so eager to buy, they offered to come pick up same day (from out of state), and at a significantly higher price than listed when I told them I had another interested buyer. Considering I'm a man of my word, I told the 2nd prospect that I had to give the 1st prospect one more opportunity and that I couldn't do a same day sell. I reached out to the first guy and informed him of guy #2, and set an expectation that if he weren't able to meet that weekend on Saturday/Sunday (which was the plan already), I could no longer hold it. Of course he had an excuse when Sunday rolled around, so guy #2 drove down and bought it on Monday.. Guy #1 was extremely upset and called me all kinds of things for "selling it out from under him to someone who was willing to pay more". The fact is, I held the item for nearly half a year for the guy, who may have truly had intent to make a deal, but was not honest enough to tell me that he couldn't arrange a meetup in a timely manner. And where I fell short, I should have set a clear expectation from our very first conversation that I would only hold it for x-amount of time, no exceptions. If buyers can't understand that, they don't want it as bad as they say they do. So there's a lesson for buyers AND sellers. Set clear expectations and live by them.

You pretty much already did though. People can put together the pieces and figure out the area you wanted TW express from, the only people who had recent postings for sale in that area and draw conclusions. We'll either be right or wrong, and sucks to be wrong. Thats frankly why I can't go off your word because its just one side to the story. If the guy did something shady, take it to the mods bc they're serious about that stuff; otherwise bringing it here and not sharing the details just makes it seem like you're trying to rally people against someone because you're upset about not getting the item. Not trying to be harsh or discount your story, but if you're here to help the community from a scam artist, call them out. I've been on both sides of your story before, thats why I say let the other person talk now, and figure it out. I'm willing to bet the responsibility falls on both parties not setting clear expectations from the start (see my experience above).

You are entitled to your opinion. As I said. I can back up everything I said. He wasn’t scamming. Just took the path of least resistance. I’m good. Just wanted to vent. Ones word means little in this day and that infuriates me. I was raised differently. Stand by your word even if it is inconvenient or hurts. Both sides of the story have to be the same as I have the correspondence. But all good. Anyone here that has dealt with me knows I do what I say and don’t twist anything.

Fair enough; glad you at least got your money back. Not trying to argue against you, I do believe you probably got screwed over. Just raising the point that a story can still be the same story from both sides at the end of the day, but two different perspectives ultimately changes the narrative. If the other guy can't speak into the case (or doesn't get the opportunity to), we're all just left to point our fingers at one guy from Knoxville in this thread, and considering I know neither of you, I'd probably still give you both an opportunity to sell me something. You seem like a good dude; probably just frustrated that a deal fell through. Hope you find an even better deal on whatever it is you're looking for.

This is why I just buy everything new. The hassle isn’t worth saving a few dollars here and there.
